BX23 Loader Joystick lost dump detent???

New it had to happen someday... my first BX issue.

Started up the BX today for some chores and found the joystick would drift to dump with almost no effort.

At first I didn't realize the loader was dumping by itself... my hand was not on the joystick.

I'm guessing whatever the problem it has to be internal to the loader valve???

Anyone lose a detent or spring back to center on their BX and if you did... any ideas on what is needed to fix?

I haven't had that happen, but I remember reading that there is a spacer in the loader valve that can break or become deformed, which would allow hydraulic fluid to bypass it, which would result in the symptoms you are reporting.

I would go to Messick's website and request the parts diagram for the BX23 loader. There should be an exploded view of the valve, which should give you some idea of what could be happening in there or at least what it SHOULD look like in there. It would help before doing exploratory surgery on it.

At the time I posted the search function was on the fritz... since then I have found a few references and one shocker...

It seems some have had luck taking the valve apart.

One posted that he took it into Kubota with the exact symptom I have... the valve part YW 249-00104 costs $935... that's a whole lot more than I would have thought.

Will give Neil a call tomorrow and see if Kubota sells a kit or I might try to add an external spring to keep the handle from drifting to the right and dumping the loader.

Check with your dealer to see if there may be a warranty issue. My 2920 had the same thing happen and the dealer fixed it as it was a known issue and covered by Kubota. Worth a try anyway.

I called Messicks and spoke with Jeremy in parts to see about a rebuild kit and was transferred to Lester in service and left a message...

My selling Kubota Dealer and my other two local Kubota Dealers closed up shop... the SF Bay Area is a tough place for compact tractor Dealers.

Tractor is still usable... it's just the bucket goes to dump unless I keep the joystick centered by keeping my hand on it...

Some posters use the term sloppy?

Doubt there would be any warranty/recall on a 2005 BX23 with 330 hours on the clock... would be nice if there is!
