Tractor
Kubota B2620 & MX5100
I sure underestimated the size of tractor I needed back a few years ago when I bought my first Kubota (BX2350) I just turned over 500 hours on my
L3700 to find out I will need a larger tractor to run the new Rears Mfg. airblast sprayer that should be here around October 1 st. Yep, I will need 35 to 40 pto hp to run the new orchard sprayer. I was thinking about a Grand L but I just looked at a MX5100 at the fair and man was I impressed. I remember approx, 5 years ago standing there looking at the BX2350 thinking, why do I need a tractor that big. Five years and 2000 Peach trees later I am staring a MX5100 right in the headlights. I must admit, it's been an interesting journey. I sure hope I get a good trade in allowance for my L3700.

The MX is a nice workhorse machine. Lots of bang for the buck.

It's often really hard to pick the right tractor(s) the first or even second time.

The MX5100 is really a good, basic tractor.

the MX5100 will do what you need it to,until you out grow it as well.

Aside from running the orchard sprayer is the L3700 doing everything you want? If so my suggesting would be to just get a second, larger 2wd tractor with enough hp to run your larger implements. There are also a lot of tasks around a farm where having two tractors is much handier than just one, regardless of size. Also I bet you'd be surprised at how affordable a basic 2wd MX5100 is compared to one with all the bells and whistles (4wd, loader, HST, etc).

around here you can get a new MX5100 gear 2wd w/fel for $19000 to $21,000.

You guys are right. I have reached the point where two tractors would be the best way to go. Now I know why years ago my father-in-law had two david browns, an 880 and a 1200. I am going to give this alot of thought before doing anything.

While I don't know all the aspects of the OP's application, it sounds like a loader (especially on a 2wd) wouldn't be that useful. As for pricing, there is a dealer here in VA selling new MX5100F (2wd, gear tranny) for $15500 with a 6' land pride bush hog.

I tried the one tractor thing for a few years, but kept having to bring one up from another farm. We now have a minimum of two tractors per property and I will still be running my L5030 up to another farm today where we already have two. We no longer farm, we need them for property maintenance and projects.

MX5100 is too light in the rear, even with tires filled, to really use a loader with 2wd.

I'd guess the short wheelbase is mostly to blame. My 550lb box blade and 900lbs of tire ballast sometimes still nearly are not enough to keep the back down. The loader is underrated. I have regularly lifted and moved objects well over a ton.
