It was time to have a go at the remains of an old hawthorn tree that the wind took down a couple weeks ago. After about 2 hours with the backhoe and 20 minutes with the axe on a couple 3 or 4 inch roots...
out she came... well almost. That's a 4 foot level in the pic, the stump was about 20 in. diameter at ground level. Don't know what it weighs, but I had to make a bit of a ramp at one edge of the hole to haul it out. The hole is about 6 feet across and over 2 feet deep.
I'm gonna have to chain saw it apart to haul it back to the brush pile, The FEL wouldn't lift it as is.
I'm really impressed with this little BX24... even tho a bigger machine might have done it in an hour or less. I've got a few more of these hawthorns to do...
