BX24/BX25 is the BX24 being fazed out

I am in the buying process and plan on picking up a 2008 BX24 on Friday. I was told buy my local dealer that the BX24 and BX25 are basically the same machine and the BX25 is just the new model. I asked if the BX25 was replacingthe BX24 and he said no. I called Barlow's and Steve said they are only selling the BX25 now.

Any thoughts out there?

The BX25 is replacing the BX24, probably as soon as the BX24 inventory is sold out. The 25 has some nice improvements including no jerk coming out of reverse (big complaint by most BX24, Bxx50 series owners), ability to move hydraulics at idle (BX24 requires you up the throttle some to get the FEL or 3PH to move), and metal instead of plastic for the body parts. Otherwise, same specifications as the BX24 to my knowledge.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I am going to stick with BX24. But it is nice to know the facts.

I would have no reservations (as long as you're getting a good $ deal) on going with the 24. For me, the abrupt stopping in reverse has never been an important issue. The plastic body has its advantages and disadvantages. Congrats and post some pics of your new baby.

1*You might be wise to get a few price comparisons between the BX24 and a BX25.
2*The BX24 should be a few dollars cheaper as it is an older model.
I get a little nervous feeling wondering how honest your dealer is with you when asking about the difference between a BX24 and a BX25.
3*Remember, it is to his advantage to get the BX24 off his lot!
4** I think if the two were side by side most would pick the BX25 unless there was enough price difference to buy the BX24.

I thought all issues with that and the poor seat quality were resolved on models prior to the current models.

I think he was saying the 25 has metal body (fenders, hood, etc.). Plastic body of the 24 has its advantages and disadvantages. Plasting floorboard/cracking floorboard has been rectified or retrofitted with support if you were unlucky enough to get an early one.

The price of the BX24 is $14,688. Barlows gave me a price of $15,900 for the BX25, so the price difference is roughly $1,200. My local dealer does not have a BX25 and Barlows is in Kentucky not right down the road. Everyone seems to say the dealer is as important as the right machine. So I am leaning towards the BX24. Not that Barlows is in anyway not a great dealer.

I am told the BX24 I am looking at is third generation and has a metal floorboard and plastic hood. I believe plastic fenders as well. I did not notice an abrupt stop in reverse and the hydraulics not working at idle is not a deal breaker for me. My understanding is the BX25 hydraulics will move the loader some at idle but you still need to raise the revs in order to fully operate the hydraulics.
