Greetings all...
Have read many threads on "alternative" air, oil, hyd, products to help save $ and perform adequately on the "toys" many of us have. I can understand using factory stuff under warranty, but out of warranty perhaps aftermarket would be useful and save money while being able to do the job properly. Basically I wanted to share my findings about air filters. Short story.. Fram CA9248 filter come up compatible with BX25 OEM filter. Factory filter around $22.00. Online aftermarket approx $12.00. Local Auto Supply $8.00. They had to order a case (12) I bought 6. Looks and fits perfectly. Just my 2 cents.

Now does anyone know of an 8" pin on bucket for a bx25? Yes the 12" is fine but I have some work to do that the smaller one would be more suited. Will do the job with the 12" but do anyone know of any dealer leftovers (would consider paid shipping), used, or aftermarket ones? I figure you guys out there might know....

Thanks all and happy digging...

I have attached a picture from a Kubota filter brochure that compares an aftermarket filter with the OEM filter. It didn't mention the brand, but the filter can was orange.

I am not saying they are all this way, but there clearly is a difference between these two filters even though the aftermarket one fits perfectly.

Surely Kubota doesn't manufacture their own filters. Someone must know who does and maybe a little online snooping can find you some lower prices for a filter meeting the same specs.

fleetguard OEM's most tractor filters, buying them direct is more expensive.

Dear ETJ,

Thanks for the info but I was referring to an Air Filter in my post. Do a search of the Fram # and see what you come up with. Meanwhile, the Air filter my dealer replaced at my 50 hr service was a Donaldson P822686 I think... I truly didn't look at the OEM Filter before the 50 hr service so I really don't know what the OEM looked like...

Addendum: I did check my service receipt and the air filter was NOT changed at 50 hrs. So therefore I must assume that the OEM filter that came with my new BX25 was a Donaldson P822686....These are only my opinions and observations. Your mileage may vary... :)

Of course this isn't apples to apples and I'd never question your Kubota knowledge Neil.
I purchased some Fleetguard oil filters for my Ford 7.3 Powerstroke and saved some money by poking around various websites. Just thought one might be able to do the same with the Kubota filters if armed with enough info.
Same thing with the Donaldson's for the higher flow air filter unit on the truck.

I'm not saving much money on using a WIX air filter ($23) but I like the convience of being able to get all my filters from the local O'reillys Auto Parts place.

I have both the 8" and 12" bucket. The 8" is a handy size and the Brotek thumb closes right between the teeth. :)

The last set of CaseIH filters we bought for the 5140 came wrapped in loose, thin cellophane. I thought that was a bit odd, when we got home I noticed the paint was already starting to flake off. I looked at the cans and they were marked made in Mexico. I'm saving the old filter and when we change out the Mexican made ones I think I'm going cut them open and see what the difference is. Right now the way I see it my wife paid for a premium filter but didn't get what she paid for. If they can't make a filter that paint I'll stick to I doubt they care to much what's inside either. I doubt she'll be buying anymore CaseIH filters. I love how they out source these things but the only one's saving money is the company not the end user, they don't cut the retail price. It'll probably be Napa next time those are usually made by Wix here in NC.

I took apart / cut open an OE Oil Filter for my BX25.
The quality is definately there. I will be using OE Kubota
filters only.
