Bx25 backhoe sags when parked

Hello,

I bought a low hr bx25 and noticed the main cylinder on backhoe boom will sag when parked (overnight a couple of inches). Is this normal? If not , how can I address?

normal. hydraulics "leak over time" never ever count on hydraulics to hold something up.

general practice, is let things down "almost right to the ground but a couple inches away from ground.
turn off engine,
then go through all the levers / joysticks for FEL and backhoe. and let it all drop to the ground. and do so until they stop moving / pressure is released from the hyd system.

you might have a "backhoe transport lock" that holds the backhoe up in place. have seen many folks forget about the lock and rip the lock off / destroy the lock itself.

Yep normal. What frustrating to me is during the storage of my BH off the tractor and on a dolly, the stabilizer feet slowly deploy making the BH bigger and harder to maneuver around. Have to connect up to the tractor to raise them up. Careful that you don't park the dolly such that it gets trapped because the legs sagged. I am now using some long cabinet making clamps to keep them upright. Tried some cheap zip ties and they stretched and broke.

yup, normal, might be weeping thru cyl seals or valve spools.

tractro 3pt is the same. if it hold position when off for more than a few minutes, it's usually 'operable'

leakdown during use is what you watch out for.

IE. say you scoop a bucket, lift it out of the hole, and as you swing over to dump, the boom is dropping and grounds before you swing over to dump.. now that's a bad leak you have to work on!

I have a brand new BX25D that has 31 hours on it, and when setting in the shop for a day, the backhoe bucket drops down to to the point where I have to raise it before I move the tractor. Its not setting on the ground, just uncurled. If the backhoe is off the tractor, I use a strap also to hold the legs up just in case they settle...its on a cart also. This from what I have seen and read, this is all normal. The pump is not running and keeping pressure in the lines. But if you have the engine running, and it does this....well thats an issue.

The BX25 has two metal pins with hooks on their tops stored by the BH boom to insert into the holes to keep boom from dropping and one that keeps the boom from turning. One is longer than the other for the dropping boom.

I always leave my boom pin in when I leave the bh attached to my tractor for more then few days but I know I won't be using it and I think it's a good habit for everyone. The bx will squeal if you try to move boom and it never destroyed mine when I do that. Granted I never pushed lever a far it will go and keep holding it to see if it will hold, but a good operator will know there is something wrong with the feel.

pump running or not it will do that... once you position a cyl, then get off the spool valve, it is just the spool seal and the cyl seals to hold it...

the circuit is not being fed constant pressure from the pump.

3pt systems can use unloading and circuit regeneration to keep a sagging 3pt load lifted to near the same point, usually in a hunting or bobbing motion depending on the leak. circuit leaks, linkage signals repres of the system, then when in the correct position, circuit unloads.

that's differend from back hoe hyds and a multi circuit spool valve.

i use a cheap rathet/binder strap or heavy duty tarp straps - they work great to keep the stabilizers contained.

I think the technical term for this phenomenon is called "creep." The pic will show you how I dealt with the creep on my stabilizers in the garage.
