BTW, those 4 bolts are loaded in shear, not compression.

Love It! A Structural engineer I am obviously not, in retrospect , what I was trying to get across, perhaps I should have written;

Note: The 4 bolts when tightened compress that unit to the frame, marrying them together making it "one",...

in lieu of;
"Note 4 bolts in compression that marry the unit to the frame making it "one", ..."

FWIW I knew what I meant! :D

Gentlemen! Please no fighting in here! This is the War Room!

The reality of the situation is that both hitches rely on 4 bolts to attach to the tractor.

Artisan's mounts by removing the Kubota factory draw bar and installing the hitch with the 4 bolts. The BXpanded hitch, leaves the factory draw bar in place (which is also attached by the same 4 bolts).

The BXpanded hitch mounts to the draw bar using a 3/4" diameter high strength pin, stressed in shear, that passes through an actual 1 1/8" of steel in the hitch. The design prevents movement sideways, upward or downward. It offers the option of easy removal and immediate access to the factory draw bar if it is ever needed.

A comparison of strength is totally superflous, as I suspect that neither will ever even be stressed. The probable weak links are the vertical frame members that the drawbar or hitch mount to. Either hitch could most likely rip the back off the tractor.

Radir, I was refering to the tie down transport straps. The goal of transport tie is to make the load integral with the platform to eliminate movement which dynamically loads the straps. I agree, the lower down you pull a lateral load the less chance of a end over end flip. That is why I plan my logging winch tied to the BH mount; keep it low and directly loading the frame. The 3PT hitch would be a weak link.

Ah, I follow you and agree with you.

... and the front, I want it UNDER
and in front of the frame.

I've been think of something for the front that would look like the front view of this hitch.

My main goal is to make self recovery*:rolleyes:[/I]

If your goal is to tie down or pull from the front of the machine - latching on to something that is directly tied to the frame is the best way to go. I added these eyes to tie down the machine on a trailer, but I ultimately cut off the receiver hitch because it was next to useless in the front. It was hard to see as well as being static in its movement. When I put the receiver on the bucket I used it all the time for lifting and moving trailers around. At the time I made a blank insert to put in the receiver when I was loading material with the bucket, but I never used it (not even once).

Receiver on FEL bucket

The ball and mount only got in the way when I was trying to carry something (like a loaded barrel) and they both tried to occupy the same space at the same time (the ball won!). The only reason I got rid of the bucket receiver was when I upgraded the entire FEL with my QA solution ... after that I have never looked back.

Modified FEL with QA system:

For a cheap quick solution I would put a receiver back in the FEL bucket in a heartbeat. As for the rear, why not just use a shackle through the existing hole?

Thanx BX24. A lot of good work you did.

I am thinking more along the lines of grabbing the winch off the
front of the trators tow trailer and plugging it into the front
or rear of the tractor, if / when it gets stuck and with the
battery jumper cable type clamps I put on the cable ends of
the winch connect to the tractors battery and "Self Recover" .

I said it before, theres two kinds of people who own tractors,
those whom have been stuck and those whom are gonna get
stuck! :D

(shoulda just photo'd the winch, heres first pic although not finish'd.
Building the receiver on the trailer and not having the winch in hand
I was on the fence-post as to spool over teh top of the drum or under.
No huge loads are expected in trailer mode so over I went, but, now
I get to move all 4 gauge wires whichs means a lot of shortening of
wires needs to be done...but here is the concept of a removalable
winch from the tow trailer to anywhere needed using battery cable
ends...)
