The hydraulic fluid is at the full level. I have tried moving the deck up and down after removing the four backhoe lines and it does not move.

I looked at the power beyond connector and inside the male connector the center insert looks slightly off center but it does not appear to be enough to cause the problem. Maybe it is? I don't know anything about hydraulics.

I have the backhoe off and have not tried to see if it operates. I would appreciate any ideas I could use to try to find out what's wrong? I am thinking I might pull the male connector off of the backhoe and swap it out with the power beyond connector but that would be too simple and easy.

Curious, you did reconnect the inlet/outlet hose from the BH & back into the tractor when you disconnected the backhoe & made sure it is connected all the way?

Yes. I did that. I have been operating it with the backhoe off for a long time before this happened.

Do you have a gauge to check hydraulic pressure, going out on a limb & guessing hyd pump or stuck open relief valve. Hard to tell you what is causing this from here. You may be on to something if you feel a connector is not lining up, but I doubt that would happen if it was working before. I know that if the four connectors to the FEL are not tight this will cause problems with loader, but I don't know if it will cause issues with mower as well. Other threads have stated possible hyd filter or strainer clog, especially strainer located behind left rear tire, again guessing so I apologize that I cannot be of more help.

Thanks for the information. You have given me a few ideas to get started with. That's as much as anyone can do. I don not have a gauge but I will check the strainer and filter next.

There are some threads about pulling that strainer & not losing a lot of hyd oil. One tells of using a shop vac on the filler hole to create a suction to keep oil in & another one says to be quick & use a cork or plug to put in the hole & you shouldn't lose more than a cup. Keep in mind these are suggestions & you can google for more info. Hope this helps.

I just finished my 400 hr service and I pulled the strainer halfway through refilling. I lost about 2 litres before I got the strainer back in. I can’t imagine cleaning the strainer without emptying the fluid first. If there is a trick to it I would like to know.

Good luck!

That shop vac trick works great for changing spin on filters. I've left mine off for minutes with a full sump & only lost a drop or 2.

So, after cleaning the screen and changing the oil and filter, I still had no movement. Then I went and took the female connector off of the backhoe which has been off for a while and switched it with the one on the power beyond, which looked like the center insert was slightly off center. And now I can raise and lower the backhoe! Like Bill Cox said to Scooter in Slingblade "Check the simple things first". I

raised the deck and it will not go down now. Maybe changing the fluid let some air in there or something? I fooled around with the deck height adjustment a little but that did not help. I had to stop work for a while but at least the main problem has been solved. Just a simple matter of the connector not aligning right.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. Hopefully I will soon be back here with good news on the mower deck.
