First post, though I've been reading this forum a lot for a couple of months.

Question: My BX25 fuel gauge no longer reads the amount of fuel in the tank. It now always reads full. It worked fine for approx first 25 hours, but since then (52 hours now) it no longer indicates fuel use. I usually top up the tank after each use, but last time I decided to let it run down pretty low without refilling....I'd say down to about 1/4 tank.....but the gauge still read full.

I'm about to set up my 50 hour service - - dealer provides free 50 hr, and comes out to me, rather than having to bring the machine there....nice deal, good dealer...and I'll ask them to have a look at the gauge.

I got the shop service manual when I bought the tractor....but there's nothing in the section on the gauges and fuel gauge that's helpful for this....unless it's maybe an electrical glitch, but even then, the manual gives me just about no clue what to do.

I was tempted to run a stiff wire into the refueling opening and moving it around to see if maybe the sensor in there is stuck and isn't floating, but I figured I'd probably damage the thing and then the warranty wouldn't cover me on this....or even do worse damage, maybe!

BTW, when I start the tractor, the fuel gauge cycles fully down and up, as it always did when it was brand new, but then it stays on full after that.

Has anyone had same problem?

Thanks....really love this forum....learned (and still learning) a ton of stuff.

After I refuel, my fuel gauge gets stuck at full for a while then it starts to go down after a couple hours of use... Is yours stuck all the time???

Mine is like yours, stays full for a while then goes down after a few hours, but gradually. It never really bothered me, I just figured I had overfilled it :)

Jay, Mine had the exact same behavior as yours. ISTR I traced it to a bad ground under the left rear fender near the rops mount. Works again as when new.

Have had no problems with fuel guage on BX25 but the fuel guage on the BX2660 was useless so I got rid of the BX2660.:D
Let the dealer fix it.

Mine is never stuck at any particular level, but it is never accurate. Might register as nearly empty right after refueling. Might register as nearly full even after 4 hours of rotary cutting.

My gas gauge has always read full from the first hour of use on my BX24. I'd also love to hear some advice on a fix. I'll check the ground issue mentioned.

I guess if something's gotta go wrong with the tractor, this is about as good a one to pick as any.....gauge or no gauge I'm not likely to run the thing dry.......maybe....and even if I did, the worst part would be hauling the can out to the tractor instead of the other way around.

Kyle: Shed's tight, for sure.....with 54" MMM, I have 3/4 inch clearance on either side.....and that's the fine-cut MMM which doesn't have a chute on the side......but still, the shed is a little bit bigger than it looks.....it's narrow but 30 ft long.....wider on the other end not in the picture. This side, with the little barn doors, was an add-on last year for my previous "tractor" (??) - Cub Cadet yard tractor.....pretty much useless machine except for cutting grass & hauling a small wagon. New shed, about to start construction, will attach to existing shed & will be finished by winter....bigger....20x15 addition (and wider doors!)....enough room to drop FEL & BH (onto roll-around dollys) and be able to mount MMM without having to hoist up front end of tractor to roll MMM under from front....right now, with all the stuff I have in there, the shed's too narrow for sliding it under from the side....but hey, this way I haven't had to pull the pins and turn the wheels.

Anyway, when the dealer services the BX, I'll find out how (or if) they fix the fuel gauge, and post the results.
