Hi Folks,

Can anyone share their experience with "pit run gravel" with their bx25,24 or 23?

I am looking at building an RV parking pad/driveway extension.

Just no sure if this larger stone is going to do more damage to the bucket and hoe than its worth.

Thanks

Its a Tractor, thats what you got it to do. Yea, its going to scratch the paint off the buckets, but hey, its a Tractor. I know its cost a lot, but hey, its a Tractor, thats what you do with them. Do you get the feeling I think you bought a tool to do work with. Yea its a Tractor, thats what they do. I have used my little BX 23 to move lots of dirt, and gravel, no problems at all, I did find out that they spray yellow paint on the buckets of the BX 23 before the Orange of the FEL bucket and the Black of my BH bucket, although most BH buckets come in orange now. On gravel, if its for a road, the Dump truck driver will help you by, just letting, a little bit out as they drive forward. As far a moving Gravel around, it will work until you have so little left to help load it into the bucket, then you may have to shovel some into the bucket to move it around.

PS Remember its a Tractor enjoy it. dont worry about the paint on the buckets.

Scratches can always be fixed. Enjoy your tractor:thumbsup:

It sounds like you have two options:
Option 1: Hire a guy to do the job for you and you can watch him work while sitting on your BX.
Option 2: Start up your tractor and do the work yourself.

I've used mine to move lots of rock (some bigger than the bucket), AB3 gravel, and dirt. It's in fine shape but doesn't look new anymore.:D

I have the a BX 2350, I've moved 100 tons of 18-24 inch boulder to build retaining walls and another 100 tons of landscape rock. The bucket has a few scratches and the paint is a little worn off on the cutting edge. The paint has held up way better than I would have expected. I have a few cans of Kubota color orange that are getting old sitting in the garage, still haven't gotten around to doing any touch up work.

I have moved pit run with my Dad's JD 3720 and had no problem. I also used the JD CT322 and there was no comparison on how much more work the CT did compared to the tractor. Your Bota will do it, but it will take time. My vote is on renting a track skid steer such as a Bobcat T190. :)

You won't have any problems with breakage, but I agree with Johndeere3720 and would seriously consider renting something if you have a very big project. I have done this with my BX2200 and BX2660, but it got old quick and I started using bigger tractors.
