Hit 50 hrs on the meter while mowing Monday. Planned to finish up mowing yesterday after work but had stormy weather, so I decided to do some of the 50 hr service instead. Wound up doing everything - it was much easier than the 50 hr service on my BX1500. In fact the hardest part was getting mower deck off and on. That thing is a beast. After removing the deck I removed the transmission oil filter. Had to modify my filter wrench by trimming the band with tin snips to fit it between the filter and skidplate. I was a little concerned about how much fluid would drain when I removed the filter, but it was really little more than a few drops plus less than a cup that was in the old filter. After installing the new trans oil filter I drained the engine oil and removed the old oil filter. Again, just a small amount dripped from the filter. While the oil was draining I greased the foot pedal. Replaced the drain plug and installed the new oil filter and added 3 qt Rotella T-5 10w-30 because that's what I ran in my BX1500 and I had some leftover. Started it up and checked for leaks at the filters and drain plug, all good. Shut it down and checked engine and transmission oil levels, all good. Torqued the wheel bolts and the loader frame bolts.
Hardest part was reinstalling the deck by wiggling it under the tractor. The bolts on the balancing bar get hung up on the rear linkage, not sure what's up with that. Reaching under the tractor to attach the drive shaft is just about impossible. Fortunately it clicked right on, so I didn't have to wrestle with the collar too much. Also, the rear linkage doesn't seem to want to go down without a load on it. I had to reach up under the tractor and pull it down with my hand. Adjusting the rate of drop didn't affect it. If anyone knows of an adjustment or something that needs lubed to get that to come down on its own, I'd love to know about it. Even after pulling the linkage down, I still had to lift each side of the deck to get the pins to snap into place. Again, if anyone knows of an adjustment I can make to prevent having to do that, please let me know.
Still have a leaking seal on left side of the power steering cylinder. It had stopped leaking for a while, but has started again now, so I'll have to get the dealer to check it out when the grass stops growing so fast.
Altogether it was less than two hours, including wrestling with the mower deck, and I was in no hurry.
