Cub Cadet LTX1045 - Kubota BX25D
I got a lot of cleanup and landscaping to do with my 3 acres, and I would like a tractor with MMM, FEL and BH. So I have talked with the local (1.5hr) mahindra dealer and the local (45mins) kubota dealer. I was fully expecting the kubota dealer to be more expensive. With the eMax w/BH & FEL costing several thousand more than the BX25D, I am leaning in that direction. This being my first tractor purchase, I am a little confused on how it works. How negotiable are the quotes? Can I comparison shop. I contacted 2 dealers for each of the brands and 1 of the 2 of each got back to me at all.

So I was quoted:
$17,000 BX25D w/12" bucket r4 tires
$251 3pt hitch
$2225 60" mmm
totaling $19,476 w 60month 0% financing (plus taxes)

Is this a fair price? I saw one thread where a poster said they got the exact same setup for $18,500. What should I try for in negotiations, or is some dealers just different prices?

([Nevermind: Also, they are giving me 60 month 0% interest financing. Which is fine, but the kubota sites says they are offering 84month. Is that just limited to my fair (not great) credit?] 4/1 I was looking at an expired deal or a different company all together.)

Lastly, I ready where someone was having their tractor delivered across state lines and didn't have to pay taxes. Is that the case? Anyone have experience with that? Could save me over $1000.

Any input would be appreciated,
thanks,
randee

btw, this forum is awesome, thanks for having me. looking forward to share this journey with my new found tractor brothers and sisters

84 months? where do you see that? When I go to Kubota I only see 0 for 60.

BTW-
BX25DTLB
-3pt hitch
-12 inch bucket
-Backhoe thumb
-Landpride grapple installed

$19500 rolling

Looks like you got a good deal!

I wondered about the backhoe thumb. Do you use yours often?

Financing: You know I think that expired on 3/31 or I just got mixed up. Well 60 months it is.

Thanks a lot for the input.
Still without the 3pt hitch, I'd be paying around $19,200, $18k is a nice price. That was $18k plus tax right? or where you AG exampt?

I feel its a pretty good deal. Guy was pretty candid and told me he was still making money at that price (and should) but the margin for him was very slim. The BX25 was 4th on my list that somehow ended up going to #1. There are a lot of things I am concerned about in the performance category, and really wish it has features like boom float for the backhoe ect. Having said that, Massey Ferguson was a huge let down and everything else was bigger than I needed. Once I focused on Need vs Want or perception the BX won. But that didnt mean I was willing to over pay for it. I called the dealer explained the aforementioned and what I wanted and he came up with I price I was willing to take.

I pick the tractor up tomorrow so I haven't used the thumb yet. It wont be near as nice as a hydraulic one, but will be a big help I imagine.

hope these ramblings help.

Absolutely help. I just began looking. Five acres, nothing crazy to do but maintenance and basic work. Was told this model was too small. I think it sounds just fine. My first tractor purchase.

For anyone who is in New England, I just saw this ad pop up on Craigslist. I believe it is real. Location is twenty miles north of Boston. Best price I've ever seen on a used BX TLB and this one has lots of nice extras. No MMM but for $11000 for a 2010 model with 1100hrs it is IMO a steal.
