Hello
I got two questions:

1. When I turn the key to get the glow plugs going...Once the plugs are ready, should the light go off? Of it remains on and I just need to make a judgement call to see when to crack it to start?

2. When I first turn the keys on, on the dash board I see some numbers...they are not the hours numbers (Those comes once the dash boot is all up and running). This number is displayed for very short period of time. Any one can tell me what those number indicating?

Thanks

I don't have a BX, but the manual implies that the operator manually activates the glow plugs, and starts the machine after a few seconds in moderate temps.
2-3 sec over 32 deg f
5 sec 23-32 f
10 sec 5-23 f

Doesn't mention starting at below 5 deg f, but some machines then recommend several glow cycles.
I have no idea what the numbers are that you have momentarily displayed.

Your manual should give glow plug times as stated above. The light will not go off when the glow plugs are ready. How long they run is under operator control. Kubota seems to use fast heating glow plugs so they don't need to run very long. The numbers you see may have to do with the tractor's boot up sequence. You may need to talk to your dealer or his mechanic about those.

Yes, on the smaller machines, the glow plugs are operator controlled. Basically the ignition switch is like this: Off --> On/Run --> Glow Plugs --> Start.

When you first turn the tractor with KOEO, it will likely do a display self-test. My truck does this.

Larger machines operator like a diesel car/truck with a timer-based glow plug system dependent on the air intake temperature.

The Grand L40's use coolant temperature to determine glow plug on time.

From WSM:
Glow Relay
This tractor has a system in which glow control is performed through the electronic instrument panel, and controls the coil current that starts or stops the preheating circuit through the electronic meter. The time required for preheating is adjusted by means of the water temperature sensor.

I've tested these glow plugs off the tractor and they turn nearly white hot in about 3-4 seconds.
