Hose clamps and angle iron could be used to lock the FEC up.. but it sorta defeats the ease of use if you go up and down alot. if using it as a static work platform for like 1+ hr.. the supports could be clamped into place pretty quick by a ground-bound helper.. etc..

I designed the FEC for as broad range of utilities as I can think of. It is also designed to be mobile work plateform with a floor space of 6'x7'. During the design phase I did discuss with my NH dealer regarding the hydraulic and other safety issues. I was told that there are check valves in the front arm cylinders so the FEC will not drop suddenly even with a blown hose. It also is a general practice here to maintain all our equipment at top operating shape to minimize accidents from happening. The FEC should carry up to 1000 lbs weight.
Btw, the FEC is custom build by a local equipment mfg company. They contributed to the design and did an outstanding job.

Are those designs proprietary or would you be able to share them? It would be nice to have something to start with if pursuing a similar product with a local place here.

Thanks

Spiveyman-your carry-all is so pretty that I feel compelled to go out and paint my yellow carry-all and rear blade Kubit Orange.:D

Ha! That's funny. My partner totally makes fun of me for that. Can't help it though, I just wanted the stuff to match my tractor. I bought a bale spear and a boom pole from TSC too, all the same yellow color, so I had to paint them Ford blue too. I'm in the process of picking out a good box blade, but I don't think I'm going to fool with painting that thing. After the first use half of it would be scraped off anyways.

Spiveyman,
I'll be glad to share the design dimensions of FEC.
The FEC is built by the equipment mfg who custom build my utility trailer exactly the same way they build the trailer.....
1. Overall dimension is 4'x6'x3'. My FEC is slightly less than 6' wide in order to fit the inside width of my utility trailer for distant transport. It is also designed so that my largest wheelbarrow can fit inside the FEC easily.
2. FEC has four 3" legs, one each corner, to rest on the ground. The legs are 4x4x3 steel tubes weld to the bottom of the cage frame and with steel plate welded on the bottom.
3. The frame construction is a welded cage with 2x2 steel tubes.
It is carried by front load forklift attachment with widest setting for stability. It is done by weld two 4' rectangular steel tubes on the bottom of the cage.
4. The bottom is 1/2'' steel plate with drain holes and the side is steel mesh (standard used on the sides of most utility trailers) weld on the frame. The front gate is latched on the bottom and secured by steel chain on each side such that when its fully opened the gate and the bottom form a 6遅7 work platform.
5. Inside on the bottom there are four d-rings welded on the bottom of each corner. On the outside of the frame there is a tie bar on all four sides.
6. The frame is secured to the frame of the forklift frame by two screwed on shackles.
7. It is painted with the same paint used on utility trailers.
8. FEC weigh a bit over 400 lbs.
Well, this is it. I hope that this list helpful to your design.

I think you should paint your box blade Ford blue as well...seriously. Your tractor and carry-all look great so why not keep it all the same. I'm inspired now so I bought a can of new Kubota orange at TSC. I had half a can of Tremclad orange from my grapple installation so I am going to paint my two implements now.

Thanks for the specs on your FEC, Cottonhawk. I guess it makes sense to use a trailer manufacturer for something like that. Now I just need to check with my FEL guy to make sure I have check valves like you do.

:) Hmmmm.... that's almost like a dare..... :) I'll have to give that some serious thought. You know... Flusher posted a picture of his tractor, FEL, and BB on another post recently. Here's a smaller version of that picture (I hope you don't mind me posting this Flusher, I'm doing it as a compliment)

That is such a nice looking package, just wouldn't be the same if that BB was yellow or something. OK, so maybe I'll have to give it a shot when I get the money saved up to buy a BB.

yes Spiveyman, that photo just confirms the appeal of color-matching all your tractor parts. I like the screen on the ROPs as well. Any idea of what that is made of? I have had a few stones and tree parts come through that ROPs opening and ding me so that screen makes a lot of sense
