Massey GC1710.
As the title states, I have a Massey GC1710. I was given a woods RB-5, rear blade. The blades 3PH mount is 19" between the pins, making it a cat 0 I beleive. Can I use this on my cat 1 hitch for snow removal?

The short answer is yes. Just move the lift arms in to attach the blade and tighten you check chains or links accordingly for minimum sway.

:cool2:excellent, hate to give up a free blade, to spend the $300 for a new one

Years ago I bought a 5' rake. Turned out it was also a cat 0 but worked fine on my cat 1 hitch. Bad thing was it wouldn't fit my quick hitch so when I wanted to use the rake I had to remove the QH to connect it to the arms directly. I eventually sold it to standardize all my 3 pt. equipment so it all fits on my quick hitch attachment.

It may have smaller diameter pins on it, depending on whether it was design/used as a true Cat 0 or as a limited Cat 1. Bushings or replacement pins can fix that.

I believe cat 0 pins are 3/4 and cat 1 are 7/8 but lift pins are not that expensive

The pins were throwing me off somewhat as the lift pins are already 7/8, I will have to try to get a bushing for the top pin though, as that is 3/4 and a 7/8 pin will not fit through the holes. Thanks for all of the input.

Your top link pin will be 3/4

It isn't uncommon to find Cat 1 implements with narrower, Cat 0 type spacing. TSC's house "brand" has often sold these at "XB" implements and often, these are sold in a different color to distinguish them.

I suppose one is to hear XB and be reminded of BX, the leader and in some ways, the pioneer of the sub-compact tractor. In those earlier incarnations, the BX 3 pt hitch geometry was much better able to handle the "XB" style implements. With the improvements made over the years to the 3 pt hitch, this is less important.

I've several implements that are Cat 1 pins, but with Cat 0 spacing. I like them.

So now the question becomes, How much sway is acceptable? It sways a bit because the turnbuckles reach max tightness before the sway is completely taken out. It does not sway enough to hit the BH sub frame. Is this acceptable? If not I will have to shorten the bolt end of the tighteners.
