2009 Mahindra 4110
I am going about choosing between the 3510 and 4110. Here is my situation. I have a Yanmar 3-point tiller that is 68 inches wide. A friend has a 4110 but he will not be available for the fall tilling of the food plots which must start in two weeks. We have a '53 Ford Jubilee but it is useless with the tiller. It also is breaking down more and more. My wife was in a serious truck accident 15 months ago and can no longer handle the steering in the Ford. We have a Mahindra dealer in our town, nice guy we have known for 10 years.

I will be using this tractor for the tilling spring and fall; mowing as I hope to also acquire a 60 inch finishing mower, bush hog with a 5 foot Howse unit, and occasionally dig some post holes. We are putting in a horse barn so a FEL and bale spear will be added.

An off the cuff guess at the dealership hinted at a $1,200 dollar difference between the two. I think the extra power and bigger tires are worth it so I am leaning towards the 4110. I did not want to "buy in the heat of the moment". The dealer is renting me a 45 HP Agco for a few days to get the tilling done and we told him we would be back in a few months to talk tractor.

I don't know much about the entire line. The golf course has had a Mahindra for three years and rave about it's reliability. The friend with the 4110 uses it hard including back hoe work. He is very happy with his tractor.

So what do you guys/gals think? Is there another tractor in the line I should look at?

I can't comment on the 4110, but my 2810HST is a TYM/Mahindra also and I've been very happy with it. For $1200, I'd go with the 4110. They are the same basic chassis, but I think the 4110 has larger tires.

I have a 4110 and love it, 150 hours so far, I would go with the 4110, more weight, bigger tires, and more horsepower, Ive picked up large bales of hay with my 4110, pushed over up to 20 inch trees with it....I was going to get the 3510 but when I test drove the 4110 I upgraded...The 3510 will more then likely do all the chores you have listed but for the little difference in money the 4110 is the way to go......just my 2 cents...mlitt12345

i would go with the 4110 as well. i was trying to make the same decision you are a few months ago, and ended up choosing the 4110 for the same reasons as the others have already stated. even now, sometimes i wish i had gone even a little bigger! i am over 110 hours at least, and have enjoyed all of them! it's a very stable tractor especially with loaded rear tires. last i knew in our area, they are selling for around $19000 with a FEL. let us know what you choose!

I'd go with the 4110, it will give you more power and the extra tire size is a plus.

I can share my short experiences with you...I have a 3510, got it just a few months ago. I thought about the 4110 only a little bit. My 35 pulls a 2 bottom 14 inch plow with no problem. I have a 72" finish mower and a 72" rotary mower, I've used them both and the tractor handles them fine. The FEL has moved 60 yds of gravel and dirt with no problem. I borrowed my neighbors 60" tiller for a day and it handled it fine.. the area was plowed and disked first though. I knew I'd be wanting to get in some tight places and opted for the smaller tractor. It just fits in the lower barn door, so I was looking at some hight issues also. So far, that choice hasn't bit me, but everyone always says bigger is better....and that was the part of the decision making process that was hardest... what am I going to use this for and what DON'T I KNOW I'M GOING TO USE IT FOR YET:D

Best of luck and enjoy the decision making process.

One more thing to think about, are you in a hilly area? One or the other may hug the ground better on a slope????

Thanks for the input Shirleyshusband and of course the others. There are some hills on the farm but they really don't come into play. I have one area across our lake that is on about a 20 degree slope, that needs bush hogging once or twice a year. I guy just mowed and baled hay over there so it's not that bad. All the tilling will be on flat land. The finishing mowing will be on mostly flat to gentle long slopes, no up and down type stuff. A friend was over who has a 4110 and will be doing the fall tilling for us. He thinks a 3510 would be big enough.
One question, what if the tilling was breaking ground, not previously plowed or disked, think the 3510 would cut it?

Unfortunately, that's the only time I've ever used a tiller, so I really can't give you any more info re the tiller. My neighbor ( a real farmer with several small and large tractors) pulls the 60" tiller behind his 24 or 28 hp Kubata. But again, he uses it in his large garden, mostly good black dirt. I don't believe he plows or discs it first.

I could add that most all of the work I've done with the tractor has been in "M" (medium/middle) range, in 2nd or 3rd gear. So I can still gear down quite a bit if it starts working too hard. I take that back, now that I'm thinking of it, when I did the tilling, I had it in "L", 4th gear. The tractor wasn't working hard at all, I just wanted to go a little slower because I'd never done that operation before.

Make sure you let us know what you decide!
