Last year I got a used cub 7275 (7000 series, 27hp diesel, hydrostat) with a loader and woods 7500 hoe for 20K, only 154 hrs. It was about 6K off new (6000 for 154 hrs is good). Before I bought it I tested cubs and kubs at keystone power equipment.....I *thought* I wanted a kub and they cost about 2-3K more for the size I wanted, but given that the dealer moved me to cub and here is why: dual pumps.
Cub uses a dual pump so that PS and other stuff does not take from the hydro drive and the pumps are higher capacity than the same size kub...the result for the work I mostly do is faster cycle time on my hoe/loader.
Other than that I am sure both tractors are reliable machines that with proper maint will be around long after I have been retired to the great construction site in the sky.
Actually owning my cub and doing my own work on it, I have to say, regardless of what other machines out there are like, the designers of cub had their poop wired tight. Its very easy to run, control and maintain. And to just get one in the 'win column', in a recent demo of a building (knock it over, pile it up, burn it) the 'little' 27hp cub far outworked an older 30hp JD. Could be the age diff, could be the aforementioned cycle times, could just be the additudes of the operators. I would buy another cept I now need a tracked dozer...case/jd, here I come...
