Your whole premise is misguided.
First you ask if you are thinking about this in the correct way, while asking a bunch of strangers online, if you should carry a gun. Get serious! You are the one taking responsibility for yourself and anyone you might shoot. You are ALWAYS going to hear from the internet brave about what the 2nd amendment means, etc. The ones quick to advise you but not there to back you up.
Second you are identifying a particular group, Hispanics, as your targets, based on hearsay. Another BIG mistake based on fear and bigotry that will land you in jail for murder. You are actually preparing to shoot strangers based on hearsay!!!!
Third, you obviously have little if any experience with guns and self defense, or the laws of the land and your state. This, again, is likely to end you up in serious trouble. Trouble based on your fear and paranoia of something you are not prepared to deal with or that doesn't really exist. Think about it.
My advice is to really think about the situation. Understand what your rights are with respect to carrying a weapon. Don't even think about pre-deciding who is a threat. Carry legally and responsibly. Know your weapon and practice with it. Carry in a way that is legal.
Reject the hype about the 2nd amendment. So called, advocates that want you to force the issue to help themselves are not trying to help you. I'm clear about what it says, but I'm not trying to make others carry the torch and become the example. This means do what's legal in your state and work to improve the rights all of us have, without being a hot head. I am not familiar with Kentucky laws, but you can probably carry on your property or in your home or even in your car without a problem. If you want to carry in the supermarket, get a permit and carry concealed. And, once again, understand what it means to carry. It's not about preparing to shoot a particular group based on hearsay. It's not about paranoia. It's simply about having a tool with you that might improve your odds if things go south. Things could go south for a number of reasons.
If you are not familiar with a gun, and don't currently own one, you are probably reacting to something. Get yourself an easy to understand simple gun and practice with it around your place. Maybe an SP101, an LCR or an LC9. Carry it around on your property, shoot it, make it your companion, find a holster for it, keep it out of reach from the kids, study ammunition for it and do some target practice. Keep it in the nightstand, shoot some targets, etc. When you are very comfortable with it, take it to the next level. Make it legal to carry concealed when you go to town by getting your permit.
If you are basing your actions on hearsay and unfounded fears, and you are having to ask the internet if you should carry, then you shouldn't be carrying. But you should be getting familiar with guns if you have an interest in them. I hope I never need mine and I hope I'm prepared if I do. I also have a lot of fun studying them, shooting, or looking for the next one to get. I can carry concealed legally, but I don't always carry, and I won't tell you to do so in order to advance my interests. Take responsibility and do what you think is right for yourself and your family. But, if you act carelessly and stupidly, you advance the cause of the anti-un groups.
