12 degrees this morning so the steam rising from the hot springs not far from my house really put on a show:

My office is in the back of our house and other than deer and bear I was very lucky twice in a couple wks. a few yrs. ago . Took me a min. to grab a camera open the dr. quietly to not scare them and get a pic. So excited & rushed I found it hard to hold still for the pics. The cougar is the first one I can say for sure I've seen other than tracks or a flash in the woods I thought might be one. I had to call to the cougar to get it's attention so it would turn it's head while doing my best to stay calm for a descent pic.
unfortunately it wasn't to be.

You fooled me with those bobcat pictures being posted first!!!! I can't even count how many times somebody posts a picture of a bobcat on FB and says it's a cougar. Those are some great shots. I've only seen one in my life, and it was just for a minute as it walked by on a ridge that I was glassing for deer. Unbelievably smooth and fluid.

This young deer and it's mother hung around our place on and off for 3 yrs. so far I think sticking together that long is very unusual. Checking me out threw my office window same one I seen the cougar and bob cat out of as well as many more animals.

Antelope in my yard this past summer, using the needles of a pine tree to scratch his neck. Wish I could post a video of this - really neat to see how vigorously he worked his head and neck against the tree.
