I have finally finished replacing my PTO brake and as I was reinstalling the filter I compared it to the old one and there is a difference. I had ordered the transmission filter from JD. The Parts catalog lists a different filter for the housing with the return line fitting. The filter that came out was the usual filter with two large openings on both ends. The new one (AL25554), has a mesh filter and o ring on one end that would seal around the retaining screw. It appears to have a pressure relief on the interior of the filter. Does anyone know the reasoning and proper use of the different filters. Not sure how the new filter would be installed without removing parts from the housing?
