I picked up my 30 Series (for extreme duty-- 1/2 in wide side plates) 7ft Box Blade yesterday from my Mahindra Dealer where it was shipped from Corriher in NC. I felt really good about the box blade. Big/Bold/Bulky! 7 Scarifiers. Put it on my 6000 Mahindra and is a great fit for the width of the rear tires. ONE PROBLEM: On the second pass today with the teeth down, I broke off the middle tooth from the shank due to a "submerged" rock (about the size of a football). Found the tooth, it was split down the side. Anyone had this happen before??? Hope that Corriher stands behind an otherwise great product. BobG in VA

Bob,

I had a similiar problem with the 20 series (actually made by Midwest). Look at this thread Midwest boxblade .

My recommendation is to call Brandon at Corriher. My experience is that they will bend over backwards to see that you are a satisfied customer.

That is just what you wanted the scarifier tooth to do. If the tooth had not broken then the tooth holder would have been damaged. Remember it's a box blade not a bulldozer. This situation is usually not covered by a warranty, you admitted it was operator error. A scarifier tooth is $10-15

Wait a minute!

The man uses his box blade as it is designed to be used and it becomes operator error?

I don't buy it. I have hit a lot of things with my box blade teeth. Stopped the tractor and spun the wheels...but did not break anything. And this is just a cheap KK box.

Now I only have a B2910 kubota, 30hp engine, but unless the box blade this man is using is undersized for his tractor, please show me where the operator error is.

Do these manufacturers think there are no rocks in the ground? Maybe I'm having a bad day but all I can say to that comment is...better left not said I suppose... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Hey CCI, I have a theory:

You don't have ANYHTING to do with Carter & Carter machinery, ACTUALLY you work for XYZ Tractors and Implements who are located down the road from CCM! You continue with the bluntly worded and sometimes argumentative posts just to make Carter & Carter look bad.

I am on to you buddy and I have half a mind to report you to those ice folks at CCM /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

There can be no other explanation. Yet another case solved by the Lawman! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Henro,
The Mahindra 6000 has twice the HP and weight of a Kubota B2910. This is not a little CUT but a serious utility tractor. The force and inertia of a large tractor like this is exponentially greater to that of a B2910. The same scarifier shank is used on all Midwest series box blades for this reason. They are designed to bend or break and not damage the mount. Scarifier shanks are not designed to dislodge large rocks. If you would have been plowing and hit rock like this, the plow would trip the safety release. If you go down the road and hit an pot hole and bend a rim on your auto is this a warranty situation?

Bob,
I feel blessed, some customers are predestinated not to be CCM customers.

I don't see operator error but I break teeth on my hoe or just plain lose them digging out large stumps.
I use special heat treated icepick teeth on my stump digging bucket.
Any earth engaging tool has a good chance of breaking because of the unknown.
That's why I charge extra for digging stumps, to pay for the wear and tear.
We have a Case subsoiler and break teeth on it but it will pull up rocks the size of large wheelbarrow too.
U'll be lucky if they will give u a new tooth, if they do consider buying a couple spares for future trouble.
