Kubota BX24
Hello folks,

I am brand-new to this forum, just registered. I am the happy owner of a Kubota BX24. A few months ago, the floor pan on both sides of the tractor cracked just in front of the rear tires/fenders. I understand from talking to a couple of other owners of BX24's that this is a common problem. I have not contacted my dealer about this problem yet but plan to do so this week. Is the replacement of the floor pan covered under a service bulletin? What did Kubota do to reinforce this area of the floor plan and/or add reinforcements to the frame below the pan? Many Thanks!!

Jim

iirc there were several problems with the bx24 and plastic parts (i have metal bx23, newer bx25 went back to metal). best bet try a dealer or 2 and see if covered under a recall or similiar item. good luck my friend

I have had a BX24 since 2006 & have been thru every type of "recalls" for this tractor & never once did Kubota or dealers come thru with a warranty replacement. Was always some excuse that there was never a recall, only a service advisement. I ended up purchasing a step stay kit, grill kit, grip kit, upgraded seat & replacement fender. Expensive yes, but for a few hundred dollars I was able to upgrade this tractor without taking a bath on a trade in. I have used JB Weld on cracks with some success. You said the crack was in the floor board, You need to look closer & I think you will find the cracks are at the bottom edge of the fender under the floor board, since my floor board is metal. You didn't say how old your tractor is, but keep in mind the plastic is aging & is prone to cracking even more. You need to be careful of anything falling against the fender or hood, I can tell you from personal experience when this happens the fender will shatter into a dozen pieces. There is an upgraded fender available from Kubota, but the last time I priced one it was over $400.00. I spoke to a Kubota regional rep at a show last year who was going to check to see if a metal BX25 fender would fit, but never got a reply. Occasionally EBAY will have something listed when someone is parting out a unit, I have had some luck when that happens. As far as the tractor goes this was my third over the years & in spite of these issues, the dependability of the rest of the tractor it has performed very well in improving our property. Do a search for Kubota BX24 issues & you will get several hits on upgrades, improvements, etc.

I was told that there was some kind of a recall on the BX-24. The dealers were to beef up the area the op had a problem with. I was told they added some kind of special bracket. I'm glad that I got a 25.

Bummer about the floor pan. I would stop drill the cracks to prevent them from getting worse while trying to get resolution from the dealer.

There was a limited recall back in 2007 or around that time & a dealer would install the step stay kit & extra plastic ribs in the new fender, provided you knew & complained about the cracks. Mine didn't crack until later & I was told I would not get a free replacement because it was not a recall. So basically Kubota & dealers only did something if you happened to know about the issue. They did not notify owners about these problems & to say I raised a ruckus but to no avail because I was told the time frame had run out & it made no difference that I was never notified. This nonsense also applied to the crappy seat, battery bracket, grill, etc at that time. Kept saying "not a recall" & if those that wonder why I stayed with Kubota, the other brands were pulling the same stunt & I already had in investment in this tractor & a trade in would have been even more expensive. You are right about the BX25 stay with it, but what i am seeing with the latest models it appears history is about to repeat itself.

Hi Folks,

Thanks for the feedback and advice. I'll contact the dealer to see if they are willing to do anything about the problem. The only other problem I have had with my BX24 is the rubber floor mat has a hole worn through it from contacting the driveshaft directly below it.
Does anyone have a list of the suggested upgrades I should make to my BX24 to get ahead of the issues you listed? Many Thanks!

Glad to be of help. Just a reminder if you don't have some sort of brush guard for the underside, get one. When I first got my BX24 I didn't put one on right away & when I was digging a stump there was some high weeds & grass & the drive shaft grabbed some, which then ripped the wiring from the fuel pump. Was not a fun day.
