I have a CC 1864 and having problem regulating the forward and reverse speeds. I have to move the hydostat lever ahead almost 3/4 of the way before the tractor will move. Then once it gets moving, I have to pull the lever back near neutral or else it will go like the wind ... in high speed. This first started last year with problems not going into reverse at all. I adjusted the linkage to make it back up better, however it also will go into high speed in reverse until you pull the lever back towards the neutral position. I am constantly moving the lever forward and inching it back after it gets going.
Anyone have a similar problem? If the hydrostat needs rebuilding can this be done by the amateur or should it be sent away?
Thanks,
Bill.
