Cub Cadet LTX 1040
Hey guys,
Just bought my first riding mower for the new home my wife and I built back in July. 2010 Cub Cadet LTX 1040. I was backing it off my trailer when I noticed it had a really hard time braking. Then noticed the parking brake handle was very loose. Just raised concerns with me since I've only had it a few hours.

Is this an easy adjustment/fix, or do I need to have someone qualified look at it? I have some mechanical knowledge so I'm not afraid of some moderate tinkering.

Thanks!

The parking brake handle itself is loose. You would normally depress the brake pedal , set the park brake lever and release the foot brake. It not stopping is more likely an adjustment at the caliper. Assuming that the caliper is functioning, tighten the center nut in half turns until it stops. If you can wiggle the disc w/o the brake engaged- then it is loose enough not to drag.
