Cub cadet Ultima ZT1 PTO issue

Hello yesterday I brought my mower out of hibernation. I accidentally mistake the battery terminals on the battery and blew the fuse on the mower. I fixed the battery and replaced the fuse, mower runs but as soon as I engage the PTO the fuse blows and mower shuts down. Ive read so many things but can't seem to find the pin point issue at all. Some saying stator, some saying voltage regulator I feel like it could be something else. I have already disconnected the plug going to the clutch and it still blows the fuse. Please help

Or the issue could be unrelated to reversing the battery connections. I would say since the engine starts and runs then the regulator, stator, and fuel solenoid are most likely not an issue since they should blow the fuse when the key is turned on. I would be suspecting something has caused the wiring to short that controls the clutch. So possible mouse or other damage to the wiring.

I don't see any issues in any of the wiring at all. I've ran through it multiple times and see nothing. Most post I've seen people are saying there might be a diode bad somewhere. But have zero clue where to start this is the first time I've ever ran into this issue

What is the actual model and serial from the mower tag. That why we can look up correct information as far as finding a wiring diagram, if it exist.

This is a 2020 Cub cadet Ultima ZT1 54 inch Kohler 7000 series motor

I’d start by checking the wiring around the PTO to make sure there aren’t any shorts or loose connections from when you had the battery issue. Even though you disconnected the clutch plug, there might still be a grounding problem somewhere else

Or a shorted clamping diode between the 2 pto wires. The diode maybe there to help prevent any electrical spike feedback when the pto is shutoff and the clutch acts like a generator as the deck is stopping. If that diode is present and fails closed will cause a electrical short that will blow the fuse.

Worth checking with a multimeter to see if it’s shorted. If it is, swapping it out could save a lot of head-scratching
