I am in the process of building a new attachment for my front end loader . I need the bucket curl lever to operate it. Has anyone installed a D C powered switching valve before ? I am interested in knowing how well they work . The switch type has me a little confused as I want to push the switch buttom to activate the valve on a "as needed" basis . The lever would than go back to controlling the curl of the bucket when I let off the switch . Any ideas ?????

Yea ! I try to stay busy . This "switch set up" is for my super secret Invention I am working on . LOL I finally got to see the cad drawing the other day so I guess I can start trying to get a patent started now .The main pieces should be ready on Monday to start the final assembly . I got two weeks to get it done before I head to Panama for two and a half months . So I am really cramming now . LOL

BigAl I have installed some of these to operate hyd phd, grapples, and 4n2 buckets on various Kubota tractors. They have held up well and we have not had any problems to date.
One thing to watch for is what Kubota calls thier "3-way" valve, (I dont know if Kioti uses these). The "3-way" valve has a regenerative circiut. This causes problems if you are going to run a hyd motor because it will only turn it one direction. It will also cause problems if hooked up to cylinders that are traveling different directions.
We purchase our vavles through gearmore.

I looked at this but they strike me as a point solution. If I'm going
through that much plumbing re-routing I'd opt for adding a second
set of valves. Also using sectional valves minimizes the effort of
any future additions.

Big Al Ive installed a few on older Ford hoes that had hard plumbed lines out to the bucket. I used a Surplus center valve on them. THey run about 150.00 but seem to do well. I m gonna install one on the boom of my Komatsu excavator this week. I usually install mine with the valve on the furthest soft lines on the boom and run the wiring in small conduit under the hard lines.
When I run one on a thumb or loader grapple I plumb them to clamp with my curl and open with the bucket open as its more ergonomic and easier to control.

I am a purchasing manager for a company that builds road constrution equipment. We use a Parker electric over hydraulic spool valve on one of the units we build. Hydraulic fluid flows through the valve until you activate a momentary toggle switch in one direction which moves the spool to the left. Push the momentary switch in the other direction and the spool moves to the right. Release the switch all together and the spool returns to center.

Those are called diverter valves. There are several people in the Power Trac forum that have installed them for multi-function of the joystick. Try a search of the Power Trac forum for all posts and enter diverter. You'll get some hits.
