I just keep my top link really loose. Depending on the angles that you have to deal with, I would try it and see what happens. You can always take it off if you need to.

Since the previous owner mowed it with an 8N, which is 2wheel drive, you shouldn't have any problems at all.

The only way to do both that I have found is with my hydraulic top link.

Some people use chains on their cutters to allow the back of the cutter to come up unimpeded at the bottom of a hill going down or backing up,

No, they use chains from where the top link hooks then down to the deck.

I have never done this, but several members on here have recommended it.

I appreciate the help and sticking with the subject. I do plan on getting a TNT but since I just got the tractor 2 weeks ago I have to let the wife settle a bit before buying more goodies.

Having been with my wife since the age of fifteen and married at twenty-one and now being dangerously close to 64, I have picked up a few things over the years on dealing with the fairer *** and she has picked up a few things on dealing with knuckle draggers. :laughing:

The fact that she likes motorcycles, ATV/UTV, guns/hunting and TRACTORS, also helps a bit. I use to own a BX2660 and now she does.

If you do not mind backing up the hill
while mowing you will have better control
while mowing as well in this way you can
simply turn a little and gain a huge angle to
make your next mowing lane quickly.

this also eliminates trying to turn around at
the bottom or top keeping your center of gravity
maintained and eliminates any shifting of the center line
of the tractor

Just be sure your mower guards and chains
are intact and in place.

Perhaps you should think seriously about loading the front
wheels as well?
