The end result of this day in infamy. The surrender document signing. God bless all our troops, past, present, and future.

I'm not all that old and remember December 7th being more than a remembrance... today, there was scant mention and nothing in the local paper???

Barely mentioned. It was 13 years before I was born, but my parents had stories of sitting around the radio listening to the reports about it, and the rest of the war.

Quite a bit of mention here in SW Missouri, the local news just finished up a piece on a Bataan march survivor, seems like different parts of the county may or may not honor our WWII era hero's. I saw several items on Pearl Harbor survivor's here.

My Father-in-Law flew Catalinas in the South Pacific during WWII. He kept his maps and charts and referred to his notes and logs as he spoke of rescuing fighter pilots from shark infested waters. He wore his dress uniform at the Memorial Day services two years ago, while my Mother-in-Law beamed. He was an officer and a gentleman and carried himself as such until his loss with a bout of pneumonia last year.

Lt. Col. Levern Mellstrom, I solemnly salute you and your generation for the sacrifices you made and the nation you built. You will be sorely missed.

I'm kind of surprised this post only received 148 views! :(
Perhaps no one remembers the speech that made the phrase.

Maybe you should have titled it "Pearl Harbor Day" ???
