Has anyone here had any dealings with Corriher Implement Co. (aka OK Used Tractors) in Newton, NC. They are the closest (about 1.5 hours) established dealer who carries grey market tractors. I stopped by yesterday to look at 4wd between 20-25hp. They had a couple of Isekis, a Hinomoto, and a Mitsubishi, but no Yanmars or Shibauras. He claims to be able to get parts for any of them.

If anyone has bought a tractor through them, I would like to hear about your experience. Did the tractor meet your expectations? How were you treated over the long term with regard to parts, service, questions etc.

I like the idea of buying from someone closer to home if they sell a good machine, and are willing to provide service for work that I can't handle. I could see driving out of state to buy the right tractor from a dealer who comes highly recommended.

Thanks for your input.

I bought a Mitsubishi 1450D from them a few years ago. They could not get an air filter for it so I obtained a filter housing from GD Equipment and have no trouble getting them now. Otherwise, the tractor has been good with no major problems, just a few leaky seals which I fixed myself. Overall I am satisfied and would recommend. Don't know of another grey dealer close by. Was in Weaverville last week.

Jeff,
I would be looking more into the Iseki if you are thinking about long term parts availability. I just talked to a dealer that has called 40 "Hinomoto parts dealers" looking for parts and no-one could even get them. There might be some models that are easier to get but overall not very easy. We just rebuilt a few Mitsubishi engines and the parts were a little tough to get but not impossible. Iseki parts are not too bad right now to get and might be a lot easier if the AGCO deal turns out as good as it looks. I guess what I am trying to say is .... If you are worried about parts, I would go for the Isekis first then the Mitsubishis.

Aaron,

Thanks for the input. I feel strongly that if I am planning to keep and use the tractor I buy for many years to come, parts availability is an important issue to consider. Hopefully I will find a tractor that is in good shape, and won't need major parts replacements for a very long time to come.

I am interested in the Yanmar YM1610D. It seems to be a popular model, and the size and powershift feature appeal to me. I haven't seen any nearby yet, and those that are further away become prohibitive due to shipping costs.

The Iseki TU1700 at Corriher looks good, and the price is fair. I have received positive comments about the Isekis and am giving them more serious consideration. I wish I knew more about the features on this tractor. The Mitsubishi MTE2000D at Corriher is about $1000 more than the Iseki, but has only 400 hours, is bigger and has more hp.

I plan to keep looking for a while, although this seems like a good time to buy. Do prices usually tend to go up in the spring?

Thanks,
Jeff

Spring shoppers. My importers that have 100 to 150 tractors on there lot now will have maybe 5 or 6 culls by April.

What does this mean? Are the best of what are on those lots making it to the dealers right about now?

Selection and price seem so much better on the west coast. How expensive is it generally to ship to the east (say western NC)?

Just wondering if you finally bought a tractor from Corriher...
I bought my Iseki TU1700F from them, alongwith a mower and blade... they delivered everything to me. They answered every question that I had....
Let us know.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hello,
I have an Iseki TS 1700 Deluxe, two wheel drive, diesel. Is this comparable to your tractor? I'm in Sacramento, CA and looking for a shop to service it... any ideas?
Thanks.
