Dirt Moving Dealer says certain dash lights on 2538 are not supposed to work?

I dropped of my 2538 today to have some warranty work done along with the 50 hour service. One of the issues is that the parking break, low fuel, glow plugs, forward/reverse, and 4x4 lights do not work on the dash. They started up a 2538 on the lot and it also didn't light up on that machine. They said that the 2538 must not have that feature for those lights to work. First why would the machine have the lights if they are not supposed to work? Second why would the owners manual call attention to all of those lights if they were not supposed to work? Can any other 2538 owners confirm the operation of any of these lights on their machine?

I have the same issue with my 2565. The dealer told me the same thing and brought around another 2565 to show me the lights don't work on it either. I was doing the first service on my tractor last night. One thing I noticed in the first 50 hrs was that one of the belts would squeal every so often. It turns out that the belt for the A/C was loose and the pulley adjustment was pretty much all the down to tighten the belt all the way. I started to loosening the pulley so I could replace the belt and the pin that keeps the bolt attached to the pulley was broken. The pulley adjustment bolt was hitting or rubbing the hose behind it. Sorry I went off the subject, just something I've been thinking about this morning.

I would have loved a cab version of the 2538 but I don't have a shop with a garage door tall enough to get it in. Hopefully your still under warranty and can get parts for free.

I have a few lights on my JD dash that are non-functional as well.. I assumed that it was the same dash being used in a lot of different models to save money

This is my first cab and there has been a learning curve with it. I'll probably just replace my belt myself and the little cotter pin is nothing to replace. I would still like to have my dash board lights working. A cab is a game changer but I did destroy the back windshield already. It's still a VERY sore subject but thank God I can chuckle at it now.

The Forward and Reverse lights are only for the electronically controlled HST, like on the 2555. The parking brake and glow plug lights should work. 4WD and Low fuel don't work on the 2538. The 2538, 2540, 2555 and 2565 all use the same dash, some lights are used and some aren't depending on the model.

I don't think I've seen the 4WD light on my 2555. I'm going to have to check it. The low fuel light does work. You would think they would wire all of them as long as the tractor has the function. The forward and reverse lights are a bit odd. I find it distracting to see them come on.

These tractors are built by TYM for Mahindra to Mahindra specs. Just remember you pay more for less when another manufacturer builds the tractor. I would think glow plug and 4x4 would work tho, but who knows.
