I was running 10-30 oil after an oil change and it started throwing watery looking oil from what I think is an overflow tube on the right side of the engine. Realized that the owner manual says specifically do not use 10-30. Drained and changed filter and used straight 30 weight per owner manual. When I check oil level after warming up, it appears overfilled. There is oil about halfway up the check/fill tube. I put in stated capacity of 7 qts. Engine temp remains good when running hard. I am perplexed. Questions: How can than there be so much fluid in the crankcase? Why does it appear to be watery? Thanks for any ideas.

When you say watery does it look milky in color or just really thin?

What does the dipstick read after before starting the engine.
If it reads over full, by how much.

10w30 is pretty much the same as 30 weight. Think 30 weight is probably 15w30.

How much time on the oil before you rechecked it and it was 1/2 way up the dipstick?

lots of great suggestions in here, some are more subtle than others. I guess first step is to find out what is in the oil, water or hydraulic fluid. check all fluid levels and make a note of which ones are higher and which ones are lower.
Really thin. Not milky.

Ok not milky but thin and seems to be making more. Does it smell like diesel? Fuel lift (primer pumps) are bad about leaking fuel into crankcase as the diaphram ages.
Since its not a milky emergency, buy an oil scan kit and see what is in it before you start changing parts.
