Been working on the Hutch Master Rolling Plow. Have the new bearing in hand and the bushing is on the way. The bearing does not have identical sides, and the gang bearing housing is strange too, has cutouts opposite each other on the sides of the housing. The bearing does not drop into the housing and I am undecided which way it goes. I am going to call Wil-Rich and see if they have an exploded diagram of the housing, bearing and bushing. I am a little lost!!!! Help

I don't have another bearing on it you can look at?

Thank you, I have the manual and have e-mailed Wil-Rich to see if they have an exploded view of the bearing, bushing and carrier. The bearing could go into the carrier/housing either side up and it doesn't drop in, it will have to be pressed. There is a groove in the outside bearing race, not in the middle, and I presume it should line up with the grease fitting. I can't look at another bearing because it would entail removing the whole axel and I worry it might not go back together and I'd end up with 3 bad bearings! The bushing should be here next week and that may shed some light on my problem.

OK, I have found that the bearing drops into the slots and then is rotated 90 degrees into position. Have to find out which way is up. It may only go in one way? I may have this project on a down hill slide! Everything is coming loose with a lot of penetrating oil (half ATF and half Acetone) stuff really works! And, haven't twisted anything off!

There is no top or bottom to that bearing. The bearing washer goes in first, followed by the bearing, followed by another washer and finally the retaining ring. The bearing may be greasable, but the housing is for a non-greasable bearing. If it is a greasable housing and has a hole in the trunnion ear, then that hole, with a grease fitting installed, goes pointing to the back of the disk.

The installed bearing will have the side with the retaining ring pointing to the back so as not to embed it with dirt. As you said, it fits

There’s a manufacturer, I won’t mention, that doesn’t use greasable bearings as they believe that people over grease bearings, pushing out the bearing seals and actually introduce dirt. They have custom that want grease fittings on their bearings and the company abliges. The custo has something to grease, but is actually doing nothing.
