With a Three Point Hitch mounted, three-bottom plow, the right side tractor wheels must reach to the bottom of the furrow. Otherwise, the two level/B] lift pins will not orient the plow to invert soil.

The plow width has to make a furrow wider than your right side tires,

You can plow with a tire in the furrow that is wider than the plow bottom. What is critical is the distance from the tire side wall to the width of the furrow you are trying to cut. Your leveling crank does the rest.

Plow here with a 3x12" plow. Normally run on a tractor with 14.9-28's (14.9" wide tire) no issues. Hayfields that have not been plowed in 20+ years. You can also completely invert sod without having the rear tire in the furrow at all. All depends on plow setting and bottom. Middle of the "land" in the below pic was done just by dropping the plow with both rear wheels on the sod (no furrow yet)

The 14.9 tractor is 2wd, ground was wet so plow went on the 4wd with 420R85-28's (16.5" wide) no issues.

Nicely turned sod.
When I was a kid I used to follow the furrow looking for good stuff. ( slow gophers )
