DK40 front bearing failure @ 1300 hours

What was left looked real clean. When it let loose, i was about 100’ from shop. All oil soaked the ground.

Mine looked clean with a slight tint of silver on the top. That has been changed again.

Five years into ownership and 500 hours on my XR4150H, the my front right wheel bearing came apart and tore up the outer housing. The tractor has a Modern 66TRG grapple on the front end loader and I typically lift loads of logs at the maximum capacity. Since the failure, I replace front wheel bearings every 500 hours. I'm not confident that I can detect failure before it goes catastrophic. I'm currently at 1500 hours and in the middle of replacing the bearings again.

If the bearings were going the wheel would be loose. Jack it up and see if you can wiggle the wheel up and down on the knuckle. Usually if the bearings are going the wheel seal leaks. In some cases, like with my NX4510, the bearings were tight. The left side seals were shot.
