If I back out the cost of what the other guy paid(remove the 6% off the 15,800 subtract the $3,300 he paid for the mmm, assume the tire loading was free) my dealer qouted me $1,748 more for the tractor and fel. I could buy from his dealer, ship it here for $750 and save $1,000. That $1,000 is a lot of money, could buy a couple implements for that.

You could also talk to your local dealer again and see if the price comes down.

Nothing beats a try, but a failure.

I'm not understanding your numbers 13,300 for tractor plus FEL, 2600 for MMM............isn't that 15,900?

And one other thing, if the purchaser has a working farm............the purchaser pays no tax on the tractor purchase.

Yes Don 15,900 before tax, which is another 6%. Mike got his tractor to his door for 15,800. Ive never heard that farmers dont pay sales tax on equipment, very interesting. According to the numbers, "if" Mike paid sales tax, he got his tractor for $11,552 but I dont know what his dealer charges for loading tires, so you would have to take that off that price to get actual cost of tractor and fel. My qoute of $13,300 minus his $11,552. Thats how I come up with $1,748 difference for tractor and fel.

I bought my tractor last week to clear two parcels of land so that they can be planted again (they were cornfields in the 60s), and the fact that its for agricultural work exempts the purchase from state sales tax. There's a Michigan form they have you fill out to certify it's for ag purposes....pretty straight forward, or so it seemed.
