I was in kind of a hurry when I stopped at the pet shop, so I told the guy, get me a dog and make it fast.

She's three years old, but only off the track since April. Wonderful pet.

This is our lab Sadie, that dog couldn't speak English but she understood it.
The first pic was taken right after we got her, the 2nd on the last day of her life, she was 10

She had cancer on her leg, we removed it twice, the 3rd time it worked its way up her leg and into her stomach. On her last day I took her to our farm and wore her out and then took her to the vet and put her to sleep. It was a really hard day for me, she was in great shape except for the cancer. She is now buried on our farm by my gate waiting for me to come and visit.

These dogs can really break your heart, she was a beauty. Hope you find another one just as loyal.

She's just a mut but never leaves the farm. Her and the cat are best buds.

Beautiful dog, I'm partial to Goldens. I wish I could get me another one right now but I have another child on the way and we want to move. Too much stuff going on to have a dog to take care of also...:(

Someday though.

The last couple of days I have been scanning old photos into the computer. Here's one that's about 30 years old of my Irish Wolfhound, Shaun, and me.
I stand 5 ft 10. That's an unflattering picture of Harpo, a mix, in the foreground. The photo was scanned from a Polaroid picture. Shaun lived to 10 yrs, 4 months, which is very old for a wolfhound. It's a shame the big guys have such short life spans, usually 7-9 yrs. They are such great dogs, very friendly, gentle giants.

I remember that picture. And your comment about Wolfhounds that they are able to knock down grown man with their tail:D:D

You have to teach your dog how to smile like you do... Nice picture.

Thank You! After I teach him to smile, I'll teach him to sit, lay down, come here, don't chew the kitchen rug, don't chew my shoes, don't chew my wife's shoes, don't rub up against the living room sofa, stop biting, let me know when you want to go outside to pee and pooh. Let's see did I forget something. For crying out loud he is a handful.

That is a beautiful looking cattle dog - I had one that we got as a 6 month old pup from a shelter and had until he died at age 14. He was one of the smartest dogs I've ever owned. He did however like to try and roundup my neighbors lawn tractor when he was mowing near our property. I'd like to get another eventually. We have a 9 year old chesapeake bay retriever now. Happy New Year everyone! - Mike

I am a dog person and currently have 4 dogs (I am from WV, where you know your a redneck if the porch falls in and kills more than 3 dogs:D:D:D). I have have a Australian Shepard, Lab Cross (pound dog), German Shepard cross(pound dog), Jack Russel Terrier. The JRT is the smallest dog in size but not in spirit. I believe every kid at the age of 7 or 8 should be issued a JRT they are into everything and would be with a kid all of the time. The JRT is the one that takes over the tractor if he gets the opportunity.

He's now 14 months. I've had several different types of dogs over the years, and he just may be the best one yet. I've got 20 head cattle...and he is now getting the idea of what to do. He's starting to be some help with the cows. But most important, he sticks his head into everything I do....he's right there...and truly is my buddy.
