My tractor engine was about 2500rpm, about 540rpm at the PTO. I had just begun using the attached 3 point wood chipper when the tractor RPM reduced to about 2,000. All on its own. ???
Opened the cab door to check and found an ear-splitting horn was blaring. Yellow DPF indicator was lit but also the RED warning lamp was lit, which signals to immediately shut the engine down. Never seen the Red lamp lit before.
So-- you are "never" supposed to shut down the engine while the Yellow lamp is lit, but instructed to shut down immediately if Red is lit. Got it.
Manual says Red indicator can be DPF problem, overtemp cooling system, or low oil pressure. Temp and oil were fine, leaving DPF. The DPF soot bars were about 4 (out of 7,) which is easily in range. But, I restarted-- then tried to force a manual regen. It would not do that. Horn blaring away.
Left it overnight, and next morning it didn't want to start. Appears something like limp mode for 3 start attempts, very slow rpm only. On the 4th attempt it started OK. ???
The Operator Manual says if a manual regen does not work, then do the common rail maintenance procedure. Except I can't find that procedure anywhere in the manual, or in online searches.
Q- does anyone know what the common rail maintenance procedure is for a Massey 1758? And is that a "dealer only" service?
