eicher? zetor?

Any info on these tractors?

I have an eicher dealer a ways downt he road. plan on stopping by. These air cooled engines? How do they compair with other 'non' big 3 brands?

You should find there is no comparision between Eicher and Zetor. Zetor is head and shoulders above it. But do not take my word for it. Take a look and let us know what you think.

I have a coworker that has an Eicher tractor . I have used it several times. It is two wheel drive around 35 hp . It is a good tractor for the money. Robby

Have you seen anything on this forum about Eicher tractors? I did a search and came up empty. Are we spelling Eicher correct? Robby

I think so.. I hit their website .. looks indian...

No info I can find though... dealer hasn't emailed me back yet.

I'm looking for something with a little more quality ( perhaps wrong word? ) than a jinma.. and again.. expect to pay just a few more dollars for that.. etc... as a 2nd mid size tractor.

I've also heard that air cooled engines may not be as fuel efficient.. something to do with using a bit extra fuel vaporization to 'cool' things down.

anyone / info?

We considered Eicher 2 years ago, I too was looking for a bigger, better low cost tractor to complement our chinese lines. Several lookers, but most walked when they heard air cooled. Me I kinda like the idea, no water pumps, radiator hoses, etc. easy to clean screens. but I just couldn't find a buyer for the one they were good enough to consign to me. It was a rugged, if outdated, design, had a great sounding engine. AG Equipment in Tennesee was distributing the Eichers in USA. I have heard that the factory in India is now part of TAFE so not sure if Distruibution has or will change. We ended up adding FARMTRAC because I felt the Ford heritage might be better reiceived than the German Eicher Air cooled heritage. Pricing was pretty competitive at the time.

Yep.. air cooled doesn't scare me either. heck.. wouldn't mind a duetz if I needed a big tractor.

Course now that I have already shelle dout big $$ to get a 90hp Nh tractor and 10' mower.. I now see a few people selling large deutz in the 80-110 hp range with 15' mowers for like.. 8500$.. day late and a dollar short i guess.

Any ideas on the fuel usage issues on the air cooled units?.. I had heard that they used a tad more fuel than liquid cooled?

How was the $/hp compaired with.. say.. jinma?

WRONG!!!
Air cooled diesels are more fuel efficient then liquid cooled. They burn hotter and have bigger thermal difference betwen max and min temp (Carnough diagram).
Jut run LOUDer then liquid cooled.

Cooling is not a problem, as I hardly warm up my air/oil cooled SAME tractor.

Never said it was.

After researching deutz a bit.. i do find they are stingy on fuel usage. saw a poster that said "if you can find a tractor to use less fuel than a deutz...BUY it!"
