While changing the hyro oil, I accidentally dumped in about a cup or two of engine oil. I've not started it up so I could drain it all out and replace with all hydro again if needed.

Is there any harm is having a couple cups of engine oil in the hydro? The transmission holds 7.7 gallons so it seems like a small amount.

thank,
gary

that small amount I would not even worry about. Now if you has two gallons I would be a little more concerned.

Thanks, i kinda hoped that was the case but I wanted to be sure before firing it up and doing any damage.

It won't hurt anything. In fact you could probably run all engine oil in there and it would not hurt anything. My JD skid steer specs engine oil for the hydraulics.

i agree.

I run heavy equipment that you can put 30w or 40w engine oil in the tranny and 30w in the hyds.

I know lots of guys that used to be able to get 10w 20w 0r 30w cheap engine oil cheper than hyd oil and used it.

I wouldn't bat an eye at putting a lil new engine oil in the hyds.

heck.

on dusty mowing days when i am changing out the oil in the oil bath air breather cup 2x or 3x.. I won't hesitate to use utf in the cup if that's what I have handy.. :)
