Quite the opposite. I hope to God all of you are right and this strategy works. Last thing I want is the economy to tank, a tariff war to drive inflation to the moon and foreign nations to call our 36 trillion in debt due. I am ten years from retirement, so the last thing I want is **** to go south. So I am rooting for you. I am highly skeptical, but rooting for you.
Do you realize what percentage of the debt is held by foreign nations? *hint* not 50%, not 40%, no, not even 30%, answer about 22% and it is spread all over the world. Japan owns the largest portion.

This video may be of interest to people interested in the actual sales results of the new model y in other markets.

Yup, I realize. I also realize that amounts to 9 trillion dollars we owe other countries. Currently our bank balance as of this morning is 405 billion. So we would be a little short if even a quarter of that was called. I also realize most Americans have less than 1000 bucks in the bank and don't have the dime to play at the big table to back all these big tariff bets that are being made on their behalf. Other countries are in a far better position to play that game. Bottom line we are all about to get taxed heavily and that is the reality of it.

Don't get me wrong, I am all about more manufacturing in the US. I want a smaller government just like you. I was against NAFTA and against very much against using Chinese contract manufacturers. So more USA manufacturing is great. However I don't like having 20%-30% extra taxes up to 200% or whatever he was threatening to do put on us. Has to be a better way than the straight crazy approach.

Nearly everyone's pension, retirement or portion of their investment portfolio if you have mutual funds is heavily invested in Tesla. Including me. So no, I do not want to see it crash, but I am not putting my head in the sand and saying something great is going to happen- just because I want it to.

Well, sticking to the topic of US debt to foreign countries, I don't see many countries if any cashing in their chips any time soon. Maybe I'll be proven wrong. I'm reading more like 8 trillion with 50% of that to foreign governments, so 4 trillion. So far, the US has been a pretty safe place to make money. Maybe that will change.

really? I also lean right, but I keep my sanity enough not to be brainwashed by politicians seeking us peasants , believing, automobile paint scraping vandalism, “domestic terrorism“, to further their political agenda.
So you deny the rash of domestic terrorism against Tesla automobiles is an act of hate? Or is even happening? Doesn’t rate as terrorism but as simple vandalism? Is not prompted by those claiming to be leaders, who apparently have a following? And you claim sanity?

It sounds like EV batteries are finally stable and most of them after 5 years are still have 90% of their battery life left. Typically, EVS are quite functional until the battery health gets down to 70% range.
My 2013 had 93% 10 years later.

An EV battery with 70% of its original capacity makes an excellent home storage unit. Time shift power consumption if one has TOU billing. Charge with solar to use at night.

Tesla still managed to sell 336,681 cars in the first quarter of 2025. Do you predict bankruptcy? If so, when?
Clearly Tesla is DOA because some people “predicted” 400,000 units and only 336,681 were sold!

I remember the same people saying Tesla would never make/sell 1,000,000 in a year. “Everyone knows there is no demand or need for so many EVs! And the infrastructure is lacking! Gas station in every street corner and I see no chargers!”

I'm not at all sure you are right. I picked up a used Model Y on Monday in one of many Tesla distributions centers in So CA.
Congratulations! More details please? Which battery? Etc.

The one thing I point blank do not like is the ride of my late 2023 Model Y LR. Have found one vendor online selling revalved Ohlins or Bilstein suspensions for the Y but I’m not going to buy without a test ride. $3000 for the least expensive shock+spring, plus installation.

Long range LFP battery, Dual motor AWD. White over white. Very stock, no mods. Do you home charge? How many amps?

I believe I have the long range NCA/NCM/NMC battery built in Austin late 2023. Original 100% range 330 miles. When I bought was under the impression Dual Motor Long Range didn't have a LiFePO4 option.

Under "Charging > Set Limit" I see "Daily" and "Trip" recommended presets. "Daily" is 80%.

They say the LFP battery lack those presets, and in "Controls > Software > Additional Vehicle Information" it will say, “High Voltage Battery type: Lithium Iron Phosphate".

Years ago I installed a Tesla Wall Connector on a 50A circuit. Used wires sufficient for 60A but decided it wasn't worth the effort to take the cover off to make the change. So I charge at 40A. But have charged a lot at 120V 12A where I could park on my carport, before I sold the Porsche 928S.

This past year I charged once briefly at a Supercharger mostly for the heck of it. Spent about $7.

Even with the Porsche in the garage I could back up to the door to charge. But that left my Y under a maple tree which dripped sap.
