Hi,
Got a FP 2024 that will only start with starting fluid. Once running it blows a lot of black smoke and barely runs at all. After a while when struggling to keep it running it starts to run better but bangs and pops. I changed the Fuel Filter and bled it at the filter and several line locations but that did nothing for it.
Then I got this other issue................... It keeps blowing my 30amp fuse as soon as I turn the key to start it. I was able to jump it from the Solenoid to the starter with a wrench. Could it be the Solenoid blowing the fuse? I dunno much about any of this stuff.
Any ideas on what to do (Besides Junking it)?

You have two separate issues going on.

Black smoke indicates too much fuel, not enough air, or timing is retarded too much - check your air filter first.

Check and clean ALL of your electrical connections. The wiring is undersized on most all of these small Chinese machines and many users have upgraded the wiring and added a relay to the starting circuit, which has proven to be a big help.

I did disconnect the intake hose from the air cleaner. Didn't make any difference. Thanks for the advice .
I'll check the connections. Odd my dad had the tractor for years and all at once...bam ! the thing goes to heck.

Then you likely have a dribbling injector(s), usually caused by dirty fuel. Changing fuel filters now is already too late. You can take the injectors to a diesel shop and have them pop tested. How many hours on it?

120 hours on the tractor. It really didn't get used much. There was no dirt in the settling bowl. The screen was super clean. Just don't make sense to me. When you get it going and do full throttle the smoke goes away and it has power. It is like it floods out at lower idle. Thx

Dribbling injector (singular). You can take a digital thermometer and measure the individual exhaust temps on the manifold. Block the fan air from the manifold. The coolest one at idle will be the bad injector. They will probably all read close to the same at high idle.
