Farmall 140 Questions?

I'm with slowrev - these were designed for cultivating and flat-land plowing. THey're high and have great ground clearance, but that gives them a high center of gravity. 40 years ago tractors weren't used the same. Lots of people had cordwood saws, a cutter bar, plows and harrows, and a wagon or trailer. If you don't expect modern performance these are excellent machines. My A would pull a 8000# sprayer uphill on gravel road with no diff lock and both tires just a diggin' away enough to keep moving. Very good for its time.

Got the tractor last saturday.
Very happy with it so far.
Woods belly mower does a fine job on the grass and fields.

Turns out that it has the 1 point setup. Is it harder to find attachments for the 1 point?

Or is it better to convert to 3 point?

Does anyone know some good places online to buy parts (replacement farmall) ?

Thanks

When you say one point.. do you mean like the fast hitch.. or do you mean like the rockshaft connection point a tthe front of the belly mower?

I think its considered the fast hitch.
I'm new to this, so pardon my ingnorance.

I can take a photo and attach it if it will help.

The hydraulics are 2 brackets about a foot and a half apart located about seat level. Then down below, about a foot or so above the ground (below the hydraulics) is a sort of rectangular, U-ish shaped bracked (about as wide as the area between the fenders) with holes all through it vertically (I would guess for hooking different things, with pins into various locations)

There is someone local who has a trac-vac for lawn and leaves and I know it hooked up to the 3 point setup on their newer john deere. So I figured before I even bought that trac-vac, I would have to get the 3 point setup to be able to attach it.

Thanks

Farmall made 2 different sized "prongs" for their fast hitches. the 140 one point fast hitch has the larger prong size. The Cub 1 pt hitch had the small prong. So if you find any one point attachments for a: Super A, 100, 130, or 140 they will fit. A Cub implement will fit IF you add a 1/2 inch shim (welded) to the bottom of the prong. NOTE: If you find implements to fit, buy them as they are becoming very scarce in most areas. As a comparison, the small prongs (2 pt fast hitch) was used on the Super C, 200 and 239 and 240 Farmalls. The small prongs were 2 1/2 inch thick. The large prongs were used on the larger Farmall/International tractors such as the 300, 350, 400, 450, etc. Check Ebay under agrcultural and try fast hitch. BobG in Va

That’s the standard arms. Your hydraulics are under the tank. A lot of implements in the back bolt to the draw bar and you raise or lower them with the arms. You basically have two lifting arms in the middle of the tractor. One has the rod going to the rear and the other is to raise or lower implements in the middle of the tractor. Like your belly mower.

That appears to be the standard drawbar. Don't see a fast hitch on this tractor. The lift arms are for non fast hitch implements.

Thanks for all the helpful response.

Would it be good to convert to 3 point? (If its possible)? - or if there is a kit.
