Thanks for all the responses... if I found a tiller at the right price that would be a great addition. Just wondering how it would hold up in my 'soil'? Lots of rocks up to volley ball size.

You'll find all the "big" rocks the first time tilling an area...once you get them out or left below the max. tilling depth you'll be fine...
...With a used tiller...wait until you've gotten rid of the big rocks...then replace the worn or broken tines...

Hands down, the brush hog is my favorite. Always has been, been mowing with one since I was a kid, nearly 30 years now. Bought the farm about 2.5 years ago, tractor with loader and brush hog followed soon after. Just over 200 hours on the tractor, and I'd guess at least 80% of it is running the brush hog at WOT. Over the years, I've done hay, tilled gardens, and augered post holes, but brush hogging is best.

I have never bush hogged and don't have the land (need) to do it but it looks like a real rewarding chore. I know one thing, I hate the two man auger... I once put in about 80 posts in rooty, rocky woods and that tool kicked the snot out of me. I'm wondering how a 3pt post hole digger does in tough conditions?

Probably 50% of my tractor time over the last 30 years has been PTO work.

Backhoe and log splitter both have(had) PTO pumps. More pressure/volume/speed, less wear and tear on the tractor.

4" chipper, post hole digger, finish mower, rotary mower, tiller, snowblower, irrigation pump.

Done clearing land, so chipper is gone. Pretty much done with livestock and fences so PHD is gone. Backhoe wouldn't fit on new tractor without major mods, so it's gone. The rest will be here as long as I'm able to climb my wrinkled old butt up in the cab.

Seems like I hook up the PHD the most, but the seeder is a close second. Only use the brush hog about twice a year. Am in the market for a sprayer now that fields are going in.

Dragoneggs: favorite vs most useful could be two very different things. And each operator had different needs. A snow blower sounds like loads of fun, with a cab tractor, but I have, nor need, either.

Fun thread though!

When Im putting in fence posts my post hole digger is my favorite. When I have a field to mow my bush hog is my favorite. When I have a field to spray my 3 point sprayer is on the top of my list. If I have a garden to till my rototiller is my best friend. When is its time to broadcast seed or fertilizer I love me some pto spreader. All my pto implements are my favorites.

Good answer! I think all mine are fav's too. As far as which one seems to get used the most w/rear pto had always been bush hog, but the box scraper may have over taken that position in last few years for things I connect to 3 pt. . I don't really count mmm's.
I'll be using seeder next week. 3 rd time in 5 years. But when you need it, you need it.

Backhoe runs off tractor hydro so just bush hog. Other attachments just get dragged along. Considering rear mount snowblower.
