Looking at this Ferguson TO-30 and wondering about the availability of parts. From a quick search online it looks like it could be a problem. Any comments?

TIA...Chris

Parts are plentiful. Any wear part can be had including sheet metal. Yesterday's tractor (google it) has links to several suppliers. Secondly TSC and several other big stores carry a lot of common parts for these tractors.

I owned a TO-30 up until a few months ago and never had any problems getting parts for it. I only parted with it as it was too big for 90% of what I needed to do. I bought it in non-running condition for $400 and $300 in parts later had a smooth running, strong tractor that worked flawlessly. Rebuilt the carb and replaced the points ignition with a Pertronix unit, changed the fluids and it was good to go.

Although I bought it to use, found it too big and the turning radius too large for the landscaping work I do. Tripled my money when I sold it and kept the box blade it came with.

The old tractors are not near as complicated as the stuff is now.... easy to work on, inexpensive parts and very durable.

I have a MF 1010 and finding ANY part for it is near impossible including gaskets.... The TO-30 can nearly be built from the ground up with available parts. I miss it but now it's getting used on a regular basis instead of sitting in the shed.

Also the TO does NOT have position control, only draft control... If you're handy you can easily build a adjustable stop for it. Also NO over run clutch... that can be fixed with a adapter.

Plans and pictures are on the forum I mentioned above. There's also a good "buyers guide" for the old TO tractors on that site.

Thanks..I think I found that site after I started this thread.

I'm going to take a look at this one on Sunday. It looks like it has the original paint on it...maybe even kept indoors over the years ..not sure. The guy says it runs good and it comes with the brush hog (or mower of some kind) and york rake for $2k.

I need something to mow around the house, the drive and around a small pond...and then some other areas..I've got someone doing the rest of the pasture for hay. I think this should do the trick for now anyway.

Can you say whether that's a brush hog that is in the attached images? ..or is it a finish mower?
