Anyone have any tips about troubleshooting a problem with a TO-30 governor? Less than 500 tractor hours ago I replaced the governor assembly with a Novi ball type governor. All has been fine until today, when my neighbor borrowed the tractor to do some bushhogging. After about 30 minutes the engine started increasing RPM's up to the point he shut it down out of fear that the engine would blow. If I disconnect the link to the carb the engine idles like it should, but when I reconnect the link the engine revs up again, even with the speed lever pushed to idle.
Thanks

Double check the linkage. Make sure it moves freely, has not been bent.

Are the springs ok? On my Farmall the spring in the governer broke, but it went to an idle when that happened.

Check your plugs; is it running lean or rich, causing the governer to overcompensate? Maybe a vacuum leak?
