Spreader Fertilizer spreader

( Junkman,
I was poking around CCM's site and found the model number of the $235 spreader (GSM350). Did a Yahoo search and found the mfgr: KOYLU in Turkey....

Anyone have any experience with Koylu? )

As far as I know, Koylu is a manufacturer of cultivators. -
I don't think this fertilizer spreader is a Koylu product.
CCM, whose is this product?

Btw, this GSM350 model claimed to have 350LT (600LBS) capacity can probably take also 400LT (900LBS?) of fertilizer spreader.

Ps: Very snowy here... Many Grizzly are appearing around. They are raking&scratching their backs, cutting their long hairs using sickle nails, etc. How to domesticate them or scare them off? I may use a kind of odor, but not sure if it will work.

Don't scare off the Griz. They make for good no cost fertilizer spreaders. Work it right and they'll even cultivate the field for you.

Good advice. I will let them do the works of fertilizing, cultivating, tilling, etc.
Them the Grizzly-s are natural Agri-Supply-ers;-0.
I'm not sure if their milk is drink-able. But, I heard someone drinking their milk. So utilitarian.

I've used mine for 3 seasons now... fertalizer is a bit rought on it.. but seed is fine.. just keep it painted and the slide door oiled, and the fertalizer is ok..

Soundguy fertilizer is a corrosive and as such it will destroy a metal hopper in no time flat. Check out some of the old corn planters that used dry fertilizers still in the field and you will see the damage done.

I have used mine to spread fertilizer for years with no problems. However once I have finished my task I immediately wash the spreader down with the garden hose and hit the moving parts with WD-40. My spreader has never lost any paint as a result.

Most fertilizer spreaders are manufactured outside of the USA. They rate a fertilizer spreader by the volume it will hold. They used liters. It is the story of feathers and lead. If you use a spreader to spread grass seed then the maximum volume will be the same as a fertilizer but the weight will not be the same. Also realize that you do not have to use the maximum volume capacity on heavy items and still will have the volume capacity to spread grass seed. The main concern with a compact tractor is what size will fit the compact tractor and not have a hopper so large that it will extend into the tires or the sitting position of the operator. We have found that the largest spreader for a compact tractor is a 400 Liter spreader and a sub-compact is a 350 liter spreader. Sub-compact operators may think that the 180 or 250 liter spreaders are all that can be used on the sub-compacts but many 350 liter spreaders are being using on the sub-compact tractors.

I have also seen other fertilizer spreaders; They too look good.

Concerning the hooper capacity; a little info for farmers to calculate the volume of a conical hopper:

Volume = 1/12(3.14 x D^2)(H).
where D = dimater of cone and H = height of the cone

Ps: lets see the picture of 400LT now. Okay, we can't take measurements and we can't calculate the volume of 400LT ONLY by looking at the picture of 400LT. BUT if we see the pictures of both 350LT and 400LT, we can calculate the volume difference (50LT) between these 2 spreaders ONLY by looking at their pictures of both spreaders on the net.

okay, still waiting for the picture of 400LT spreader.
Do us folks here a favor and post its picture of 400LT and let me show these folks how to calculate the volume ONLY by looking at a picture. If you can not show it, no problem. As always, I am a thoughtfull person and will again understand.

The problem with your formula is that it is for a cone. A cone comes to point. The hopper on a spreader is a truncated cone and does not come to a point.

In my opinion this has little to do with the original poster's question any way.

Correct. But what if that 400LT conical hopper isn't truncated? We haven't seen it yet. Once I see it I will correct the formula according to it (easy work) and I will come to a point then.

Ps: yes, it's related to the question of original poster. 400LT fertilizer spreader mentioned here, but it doesn't exist?

Well now that I am thoughrly confused on spreaders! I think I will go with my gut feeling and buy either the cosmo180 or the frist-choice p180. There the same machine so it will come down who has a sharper pencil.
