New to tractor owing, Yanmar 2210D is now in the pole barn. Yea!

I have been RTFM'ing, and the manual says that I should always fill the tank at the end of the day.

Why? To prevent condensation maybe?

Thanks for any insight that you can provide.

You are correct, the more air is in the tank, the more room there is for condensation. As well as the fact a full tank of fuel will not go stale as fast as one with a lot of air in it.

I only fill mine with fuel when it gets low. I don't top it off with fuel at the end of every day

Yea, I don't either personally, just chiming in with the rhyme of reasons it's considered a good practice. The more you use your machine the less of an issue it is I would think... I generally toss a 5 gallon can in mine any time the 11 gallon tank is reading down around a half tank. Takes me about a week or sometimes more to run out a half tank when just doing maintenance stuff around the property. I've also went through that much in a day of "project work".

I think they were talking about having a cocktail not your fuel tank. I've always called it filling my tank. Then when I'm done, I'm tanked. Make sense?

I hate to say it, but it makes sense.

Wait, I was supposed to wait until I'm done for that? Oops.

Here are some pictures of pump intake taken from a fuel tank of a surplus military truck I bought a few years ago. It'll give you an idea of the stuff that grows in diesel when condensation/water accumulates.

I plan to drain/flush all of my diesel tanks every couple of years after seeing this stuff.

I always start filling my tank early, so that I get tanked sooner.

I guess it's 5:00 somewhere looking at the previous posts. But, since it's not even 10 am here, I'll just say I fill the tank every time I stop simply because it helps make sure I (or my somewhat preoccupied 16 year old son's mind) doesn't accidentially ever run out of fuel. From what I have read, that is not a good thing with a diesel engine.
