I had to use the B2920 I purchased late last fall for the first real task yesterday. We had to put down an aging and sick pet, so I had to dig it's final resting place. I could tell a really big difference from my BX25. While using the backhoe on the B2920, it seems to have much more power (I am not sure of the true numbers), at least the hands on experience felt like it was digging much better and with greater force. I dug a three foot deep area pretty fast and with great ease. It seemed totally different. Of course it is new, and the teeth are sharper etc. That may account for some of it.

The tractor weight difference does cause the tires to chew up the lawn in soft areas, even though they both had R4s. On the BX25 it was never an issue, but I need to pay closer attention now.

Overall, even though it was a sad occasion, I was pleased very much so with the performance.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your pet -- that's always tough. I have memories of digging down past the frost line to bury a pet many years ago when I was a kid in CT. You don't forget stuff like that.

So how wet is the ground up there from yesterday's rain? That could explain some of the tire damage to the lawn. I want to get my 2920 out for some work today, but it was looking pretty muddy out there yesterday. We've had high groundwater ever since Irene came through, and even a light rain really makes the lawn spongy.

Very tough chore to bury a pet! At least the digging experience was a good one.

A few months back, I would have loved to have a larger backhoe. I had to bury a horse and it took a long time with my BX24.

The ground wetness was not too bad. Luckily the spot we picked was out of the yard, but I had to drive through it. Maybe it was more soaked than I had thought, ha.

My condolences on your loss, it's a tough thing to have to do. I had to have our Airedale put down last Tuesday, no hole to dig though, I had her cremated and she will be in an urn on the mantle. On a more positive note, I'm glad you're happy with operation of the new tractor.

Sorry to hear about your pet. Their time on earth is very short.

I have chosen to sell my R4 tires due to foreseeing problems during grass cutting season. I posted them for sale here........ Let me know if you have anyone in your area interested.

sorry to hear about your pet,I also have a b2920 with turf tires and it too was tearing sod up on corners and quick acceleration or stopping but after about 10hours of wear on tires the turf damage has stopped. at first I tought I should have stayed with my bx25 but now I like my b2920 alot more now that turf damage has stopped.

Good to know! I had the BX25 as well. Sounds like we followed the same path, as many others.

Sorry about pet. that is tough. I have a new Kubota B2920 as well, (9 hours so far). And I too came from a smaller machine BX2200, and there are many differences including speed of hydraulics, and diggin up the yard with the tires. I am hoping when some of the sharpness wears off the R4's it won't be quite so bad. I use my tractor for mowing and I will really find out in a couple of months what damage they will do.
