Finally finished the grappler claw! It's working great. I ended up using 2½" bore tie rod cylinders with 8" strokes. It took a total of 50 ft of ½" hydrolic hose and 16 ft of 3/8" hose. That's how much it took to come off of my rear remote. This is the first implement that I've fabricated. Any suggestions on ways to improve on future projects? Next one is probably going to be a forklift. Already have the forks...just need to create the attachment. Has anyone else made one and do you have pics or suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Pretty nice looking grapple you made there. How much time do you have wrapped up in the construction end?

Weekend Project

First off NICE Grapple !!!

I am thinking about building a grapple. If you dont mind me asking.

What was you Steel Material cost, or was it scrap material lying around?

Did you use Mild Steel or High Tensil strength ?

What do you estimate total weight of the Grapple to be?

Thanks.

weekend,
Great job on the grapple! I can see why you chose that project. You have a LOT of stuff to grab! They sure are nice picking up all that stuff aren't they? Makes moving it an easy chore now.

I SPENT ABOUT 45-50 HOURS ON AND OFF CONSTRUCTING THE GRAPPLER CLAW. I BOUGHT 1020 STEEL AND SPENT ABOUT $275 ( I DID USE SOME SCRAP BUT FOR THE MOST PART BOUGHT NEW STUFF) THE APPROXIMATE WEIGHT IS ABOUT 650-800 LBS AS BEST I CAN TELL.

Yep, been looking for something like that to pick up all the dang cans. Will need a loader too. Great job.

Great job ! That thing looks all business. Any reason you went with 2 seperate claws ? On a 6' bucket I was thinking about one in the center that would be 30" wide. Another feature would be bolting the unit on so it could be stored when not in use. I have never tried one out so I am exploring the possibilities. By the thickness of the materials involved one could get pretty aggressive with that.

Wow! Nice work. That is just the item I need to clear out part of my clearcut.

First implement ever fabricated?!?!? That looks pretty slick and professional. How much to build a 72" one for me?;)
Nice job.
