So the other day I was was driving down the hill in 2wd with a bucket full of stone, tractor started to slide, and in panic I slammed down the 4x4 lever (which didn't work yet produced that unhappy gear sound, I eventually stopped by dropping a bucket)
At the bottom of the hill I engaged/disengaged 4x4 and it "seemed" to work.
In the next few days, I took the tractor onto a dirt slope, and couldn't back out from. 4x4 was not working. I got stuck, and finally got out this morning with the help of the neighbor who was pulling it out by backhoe, while I was pushing with front bucket.
We got it up on "all four" (backhoe arms and front bucket). The 4x4 arm was stuck in 4x4 and not working. Jiggling things around we got it out.
We put it back in and 4x4 started working, then putting it out and in again it wasn't.
We have reached similar results within 10-15 mins we were 'playing' with it. The 4x4 was more often not working than working. Obviously, I can't count on it moving forward, unless i leave it on all the time (current state).
The lever doesn't feel the same either.
Looking for pointers on where to start.
Thank you.
